JOB SUMMARY

The Teaching Kitchen Registered Dietitian (TK RD) will lead and support Grady's Food as Medicine/Teaching Kitchen Programs. The TK RD will combine expertise in nutrition, culinary skills, and education to inspire participants to adopt healthier eating habits to assist in the management of their chronic disease states. This role involves planning, coordinating, and delivering interactive cooking classes and workshops tailored to diverse audiences. The TK RD will report to the Director, Medical Nutrition Therapy and Teaching Kitchen Manager.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Management:



  • Ensure the kitchen operates smoothly, including inventory management, food safety and cleanliness.
  • Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations.


Outreach and Engagement:



  • Develop relationships with community organizations, schools, and businesses to promote the Teaching Kitchen Program.
  • Participate in events to raise awareness of healthy cooking and eating practices.


Nutrition Guidance



  • Provide group nutrition consultations as needed for employees and community at large.
  • Translate complex nutrition science into practical advice.
  • Promote balanced eating habits and mindfulness around plant-based diets.


Teaching and Facilitation:



  • Lead engaging and hands-on cooking classes and workshops in the Teaching Kitchen.
  • Educate participants in nutrition fundamentals, meal planning, and preparation techniques.
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for learning.
  • Assists in day-to-day performance, mentors and teaches dietetic interns in Food as Medicine Culinary rotations.


Program Development:



  • Design and implement evidence-based nutrition and culinary education programs.
  • Develop class themes, menus, and recipes that align with dietary guidelines and meet the needs of various populations.
  • Collaborate with other professionals (i.e., healthcare providers, wellness coaches, chefs) to enhance program offerings.



QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or related field required. Master's Degree in Nutrition preferred.
  • At least one year of job-related experience required. More than 1 year of job-related experience preferred.
  • Skills/Cert/Licenses: Registered Dietitian, Licensed Dietitian, ServSafe Certification, Basic LifeSupport (BLS)
