The Payment Services Strategist will partner with Payments leadership to develop and execute scalable, mature solutions for money movement. This critical role will employ a data driven approach to optimize processes, technology and talent to achieve best in class payment outcomes. Leveraging a deep understanding of the financial payments landscape this position will research and evaluate new payment technologies and solutions, in addition ensuring a consistent and proactive approach to regulatory and compliance requirements. Qualified candidates will have at least five years of experience in a payment strategy role with demonstrated proficiency in managing a complex suite of payment products and services with an emphasis on effective results and cultivating highly collaborative partnerships.
Here's what you can expect from the job and what you need to be successful:
Job Duties:
  • Partner with leadership to develop and execute a payments strategic roadmap to optimize performance, policy and process effectiveness, and maximize technology capabilities to achieve enterprise business objectives
  • Monitor and analyze the output of payments 360 dashboard reporting and/or other report monitoring to make timely recommendations related to product volumes and performance
  • Utilize data to drive quantitative analysis to enhance and innovative payments strategies that balance member experience, enable seamless money movement, and support aggressive growth target
  • Partner with leadership to drive cross-channel money movement strategies; while taking into consideration enterprise risk management, Fraud, BSA, and other areas of concern that need to be balanced to limit Credit Union and member loss exposure
  • Monitor product performance, growth, trends, and cost providing recommendations to ensure payment offerings are consistently delivering on member and business expectations
  • Anticipate emerging risks and mitigate existing risks relative to payment channel operations, prioritize and resolve issues identified to increase reliability and sustain effective and efficient payment operations
  • Monitor external landscape to build understanding and awareness of best-in-class Payment Solutions, reporting, and planning practices to inform efforts for continuous improvements in operations and performance
  • Effectively communicate discoveries, recommendations and performance reporting to business and executive leadership on regular basis
  • Foster and nurture relationships with Product, Digital, Cards, and other key financial industry partners by participating in roundtable discussions, cross-channel collaboration and representing FTFCU at public/network events
  • Support leadership in developing deeper expertise across the Payment Services team through knowledge sharing, mentorship, and guidance
Essential Skills:
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the payments industry creating and driving strategy for a credit union, bank or FinTech including at least 3 years within a payments or money movement support role for a medium to large institution
  • Ability to balance critical demands, competing priorities, and essential responsibilities with timely, accurate, assessments, deliverables, and reporting
  • Proven ability to build collaborative working relationships with cross-functional teams and at all levels of leadership
  • Strong technology acumen including hardware, software, and understanding of malicious utilization as well as eagerness to acquire competency in internal system navigation and usage
  • Strong communication skills, written, verbal and presentation
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Business, Management, Analytics, Economics, or related field of study or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Certification/License:
    • AAP (Accredited ACH Professional) Required
    • FPP (Faster Payments Professional) Required
    • CertPAY (Certificate in Principals of Payments) Preferred
    • SQL Certification Preferred
    • Tableau Certification Preferred
Location: Hillsboro Corporate Office - Hillsboro, OR 97124
Target Compensation in Hillsboro, OR: $90,000 to $105,000 annually + annual bonus
