DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Forest Insect Pest Aide 1 plays a crucial role in carrying out surveys and detection efforts related to invasive insect pests within the forests and agricultural areas of Pennsylvania, which encompass vineyards, orchards, and various commercial environments. This position involves reaching out to landowners to provide information about the insect pest survey initiatives and securing consent to inspect trees or install traps before initiating any fieldwork. The focus of these surveys includes a range of target pests such as the box tree moth, European cherry fruit fly, and golden twin-spot moth, among others. Additionally, the responsibilities extend to adhering to established survey protocols for trap management, entering data accurately, and keeping a detailed log of all activities performed. - Temporary full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Work will be performed in Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, Philadelphia, Bucks, Berks, Lehigh, Northampton, and Schuylkill counties.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Any combination of experience and/or training which afforded the applicant the above listed required abilities.
Special Requirement:
- This position requires possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- College coursework or experience in Dendrology, Plant Taxonomy, Entomology, Forestry, Botany, Biology, or Environmental Science.
Additional Requirements:
- Willing to accept a temporary position with no benefits and a wage of $17.00 per hour.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
