THE POSITION

Are you experienced in maintenance and passionate about creating clean, safe spaces for others? The Department of Human Services, Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services, Loysville Youth Development Center is seeking a dedicated and motivated Maintenance Repairman to join our team. In this role, you will utilize your wide-ranging maintenance expertise to maintain our facilities and grounds, ensuring they are free from hazards, visually appealing, and well-maintained. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for performing both semi-skilled and skilled tasks across a variety of trades, including carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. Your duties will span both indoor and outdoor environments, ensuring the safety and upkeep of the buildings and grounds for residents and staff. You will also serve as a lead worker, overseeing semi-skilled workers as assigned. Additionally, you will assess the necessary supplies and equipment for each task while determining the appropriate safety and security measures required. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Travel may be required as needed.
  • Overtime may be required as needed, either voluntary or potentially mandatory.
  • May change based on operational needs.
  • This position is considered essential during weather and other emergency events.
  • Must be willing to accept employment at Loysville Youth Development Center and commute to this location in Perry County.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $39,785.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1; or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirement:

  • You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
