a.i. solutions is currently seeking a Mission Operations Cybersecurity Engineer to support the Ground Systems and Mission Operations-3 (GSMO-3) program at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD. The Mission Operations Cybersecurity Engineer will help maintain, establish, and operate a complete IT security program, including compliance, continuous monitoring, system design, and security controls assessment. Working under the direction of a cybersecurity technical lead, this role will ensure technical controls are designed and implemented to reduce risk to an acceptable level and ensure appropriate system confidentiality, integrity, and availability according to Federal and NASA requirements. The Mission Operations Cybersecurity Engineer must have strong technical skills, assisting engineers in security control implementation, assessing security controls, security monitoring, mitigating vulnerabilities, managing role-based access controls, reviewing security configuration, and generally ensuring NASA ground systems are appropriately protected. The primary responsibility of this role will be to design and administer technical tests to aid in the assessment of the program's various external partners' systems. These assessment activities will also encompass occasional documentation review, so familiarity with required security documentation is a plus. The Mission Operations Cybersecurity Engineer will investigate IT Security incidents and work with the Incident Response Team (IRT) for system forensics, diagnostics and/or malware tracking, and discover, report, and mitigate vulnerabilities and respond to incidents as needed.

ESSENTIAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Follow Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) and Configuration Management documentation and suggest updates as appropriate
  • Monitor security audit logs for signs of issues or vulnerabilities
  • Participate in risk assessments, security controls assessments, and contingency plan tests
  • Perform support activities associated with the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems
  • Review results of Tenable Nessus scans and provide guidance to System Administrators for remediating vulnerabilities.
  • Automate security tasks
  • Perform security analysis of AWS accounts and ensure cloud migration activities have built-in security.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB:



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, or Related Field with 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Extensive Windows Server and Linux system administration expertise.
  • Experience securing Linux, Windows, and various modern, legacy, and custom technologies.
  • Familiarity with security control standards (NIST 800-53, ISO/IEC 27000-series, PCI DSS, etc.).
  • Conduct compliance and risk analysis tasks to systems standards.


DESIRED SKILLS:



  • Strong research and problem-solving skills, both independently and in teams, and the ability to follow complex procedural documentation and guidance.
  • CISSP certification and AWS technical certification (Security, Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, etc.).
  • Experience with commercial cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google).
  • Experience with Storage Area Networks (SANs), Fiber Channel, Fiber Connections, and Cluster environments.
  • Experience with networks, firewalls, switches, Virtual Machines (VMs), virtual snapshots
  • Experience with remote management tools, disk encryption, video surveillance systems, system backup solutions
  • Experience with agile project management, and agile project management tools such as Jira
  • Experience providing security in a NASA environment, including familiarity with NASA technical standards
  • Experience with the security controls assessment process
