Job Objective:
Diagnoses problems and performs necessary repairs on machinery and/or related mechanical equipment and helps maintain a safe work environment for the company.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with operations to schedule preventative maintenance.
  • Investigates faulty machinery/mechanical equipment, check parts using equipment, and refer to workshop manuals.
  • Clean, lubricate and tune mechanical equipment to make them run properly.
  • Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing / expediting orders and verifying receipt of material.
  • Repair damaged or faulty parts with new or rebuilt parts.
  • Monitors and reads gauges to verify sufficient levels of fluids, air pressure, and oxygen.
  • Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Works closely with operations to ensure projects are performed in a safe and timely manner.
  • Provide recommendations for facility or process improvements (design changes, equipment, etc.)
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects company assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential.
  • Requires less supervision, direction, and training in the performance of routine duties.
  • Demonstrates an increased ability to work unsupervised, act upon an acquired knowledge of how the facilities function, anticipates, and corrects problems before they occur or before other parts of the facility are affected.
  • Demonstrates the ability to routinely operate machinery/mechanical equipment unsupervised, while maintaining the facility in a safe, environmentally sound condition and maintaining neat and accurate records of the operations.
  • Willing to cross train in other crafts.

  • Participate in an on call rotation.

Qualifications:

  • Ten (10) years minimum mechanic experience.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize when non-standard or non-routine conditions exist at the facility, notify supervisory staff, and offer recommendations for solutions to the problem.
  • Basic mathematic and mechanical skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
  • Ability to consider safety in all decisions.
  • Turbo machinery / steam turbine skills
  • Experience with boilers & steam applications
  • Experience in repair and overhaul of single and multistage centrifugal pumps
  • Proficient in the use of precision tools and alignment equipment.
  • Proficiency in the use and application of the following software:
    • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & Outlook)

Education Requirements:

  • Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent or any equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating sufficient knowledge, ability and skill to handle the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Valid Driver's license
