Under the supervision of the Director of Operations and in collaboration with the Physician Director of the department, the incumbent will be responsible for the clinic operations of the department and is responsible for clinical staff in the department. Executes the functional strategy for the clinic in these areas and participates in hospital-wide initiatives and implementations. Will manage all aspects of clinic operations and overall management of the clinical operations for these areas.

Essential Functions
-Plans, hires, trains, and allocates technical and supervisory staff in all the clinic areas across the service while working collaboratively with other leaders.
-Evaluates staff competencies.
-Assists the Director in implementing new workflows where needed to meet new policies and regulatory compliance changes.
-Contributes to the implementation of workflow and system improvements, meeting the needs of the Service/Department.
-Assists the Director in developing and monitoring annual operating and capital budgets and overall departmental goals. Controls and conserves operation expenses and capital purchases aimed at financial stewardship.
-Ensures optimal patient care by redeploying staff to meet the demands of the clinic's needs across the service.
-Assures consistent use of resources are deployed to ensure an optimal patient experience with particular focus on vulnerable populations with special accommodation requirements.
-Addresses patient complaints, requests, and questions.
-Proactively identifies opportunities to improve quality, service, patient satisfaction, and utilization performance metrics.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required

Licenses and Credentials

  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant [COA] - Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology required

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in managing in an ophthalmology setting 5-7 years required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Good interpersonal management skills.

  • Ability to work independently, without supervision, in high-volume service areas and with others as a team.

  • Interacts with patients and clinical staff and requires collaboration with physicians and scientists as well as regulatory and compliance.

  • Strong analytical and communication (both written and verbal).

  • Strong Leadership and Training skills.

  • Ability to effectively evaluate and problem-solve.

  • Knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
