[1] Georgia-Pacific is seeking a dedicated Safety and Health Leader to provide leadership at our tissue, towel and napkin manufacturing facility in Clatskanie, OR. Reporting to the Vice President of Manufacturing, the Manager of Safety and Health will provide transformative leadership and guidance to the mill leadership team and their team of direct reports. This position will lead a Safety and Health capability group that includes strategic direction and oversight for the areas of Occupational Safety and Health, Process Safety Management, Worker's Compensation and Injury Medical Management, site security and the Emergency Response Team. This role will work directly with the leadership team to identify hazards and to develop risk mitigation plans, leverage transformative capital project opportunities via the site's Path to Zero risk reduction plan, and applying Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) concepts to assist the mill in becoming a learning environment, ultimately creating value by achieving sustainable cultural improvements. As a key mill leader, the successful candidate will create value for the organization by ensuring risk is aggressively identified and mitigated, developing, and aligning the facility safety strategies with the business Safety Vision. Our Team The Wauna mill, it's 800+ team members, and products are a critical part of GP's Consumer Products portfolio. The site manufactures high-profile Angel Soft, Sparkle and Vanity Fair brands. GP has invested heavily at Wauna in recent years to deliver competitive tissue and towel products, including a new tissue paper converting machine and palletizing robotics. The mill also features a recent $150M investment rebuilding a paper machine, to further the mill's competitive position. Located 1 hour North of Portland, the mill is nestled in outskirts of Astoria, OR and Clatskanie, OR. Oregon serves as a major attraction for outdoor lifestyles including hiking, mountains, or summer beach time. What You Will Do * Supervise the mill's safety and health team and their ongoing development * Partner with mill leadership to develop and execute strategic safety and health improvement plans, including effectively communicating the safety vision, strategies, and performance to internal and external stakeholders * Lead the Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) methodology at the site, including department and task risk assessments * Utilize development plans to grow safety/health and process safety skills and knowledge though innovation in training and development programs * Develop strategies for emerging facility and corporate needs and initiatives, especially those related to risk reduction with asset strategies and process safety ventures * Apply Human and Organization Performance (HOP) concepts so the facility becomes a robust learning environment where knowledge sharing occurs in an expedient manner * Enhance the site capabilities in critical hazard program management, including hazardous energy control; fall protection, mobile equipment and pedestrian interactions; cranes and rigging, work permitting; and emergency preparedness * Communicate with business unit safety and health and other personnel to assure alignment with business vision, strategy, and programs * Facilitate incident investigations, ensuring HOP concepts are utilized so that learning is maximized and ensuring recommendations are effective from both a prevention and recovery perspective in order to build the organization's capacity to fail safely Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) * Five (5) or more years in a safety leadership role in an industrial/manufacturing facility * Experience using and applying EHS Management Systems * Experience with OSHA regulations, compliance standards, and conducting training * Experience with Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) concepts and methods What Will Put You Ahead * Bachelor's Degree or higher in Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene or Engineering * Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) * Experience with process safety management in a manufacturing environment * Experience establishing sustainable management systems for EHS compliance and continuous improvement * Experience leading and developing people At Koch companies, we are entrepreneurs.
