Below, you'll find other important information about this position. The Financial Aid Counselor is responsible for providing comprehensive financial aid services to students and their families. This role involves counseling students on financial aid options, assisting with the application process, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations. The Financial Aid Counselor will work collaboratively with other departments to support student success and promote financial literacy among the student population.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Counseling, Education, or related field

2. BLS Certification from American Heart Association (prior to students' arrival on campus)

EXPERIENCE:

1. Minimum of 2 years of experience in financial aid, student services, or a related area. (Required)

2. Knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and processes. (Required)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Graduate degree in a related field

2. 3 years of experience in financial aid or higher education administration

EXPERIENCE:

1. Nursing program experience

2. Experience working with underserved populations

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. 1. Provide individualized counseling to students and their families regarding financial aid options, application procedures, and eligibility requirements.

2. Assist students in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and other financial aid forms.

3. Review and process financial aid applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines.

4. Conduct verification of student and parent information as required.

5. Determine financial aid eligibility and package awards in accordance with regulations and policies.

6. Monitor and facilitate the disbursement of financial aid funds to student accounts.

7. Stay current with changes in federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations.

8. Prepare and submit required reports and documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.

9. Develop and present workshops and seminars on financial aid literacy and planning for students and families.

10. Work collaboratively with admissions, enrollment manager, and other staff to support student enrollment and retention.

11. Serve as a resource for faculty and staff on financial aid matters.

12. Provide excellent customer service by responding to inquiries from students, parents, and other stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.

13. Address and resolve financial aid issues and concerns as they arise.

14. Stay informed about best practices and trends in financial aid and higher education.

15. Maintain accurate and confidential student records.

16. Utilize student information system to track and manage student financial aid data.

17. Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support the mission and goals of the student services office.
