THE POSITION

Do you have a desire to play a crucial role in the awareness of drug and alcohol problems, issues, and trends in the community? The Bradford and Sullivan Counties Drug & Alcohol Abuse Unit is looking for a dedicated Drug & Alcohol Case Management Specialist Trainee to complete our team. This position gives you the opportunity to ensure clients with drug and alcohol problems have access to services in a continuum of care by providing a full range of case management services. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Drug & Alcohol Case Management Specialist Trainee, you will learn to conduct intake interviews utilizing Department of Health approved assessment practices to obtain necessary information from clients, families, and/or involved collaterals for the identification of service needs for drug and alcohol related problems. Work involves determining level of care based on placement guidelines and appropriate funding arrangements as well as authorizing or recommending services using F.A.C.T.S. client tracking system. You will have the opportunity to orient clients to the program, policy, procedures, and treatment process as well as monitor client treatment progress and/or perform utilization review activity. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Preparing written reports
  • Maintaining client records
  • Acting as an advocate for clients

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Work hours may vary to due travel and after hour appointments.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. Work from home policy is limited to 18 days of telework per calendar year in 3.75 or 7.5 hour increments. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Laporte.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Dependency, Sociology, Social Welfare, Psychology, Nursing or a related field; or a Bachelor's Degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 18 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, criminal justice or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
