Description

The researcher will provide technical assistance and laboratory support to Dr. Gautam's lab in the Department of Medical Microbiology, Immunology, and Cell Biology (MMICB). Dr. Gautam's lab focuses on GI cancer research program, supported by Simmons Cancer Institute at SIU-SOM, with a major emphasis on translational pancreatic cancer research. The major part of the research will be to understand and develop immune-modulatory approaches against pancreatic cancer and evaluate combination therapies targeting tumor intrinsic factors that contribute to complex tumor microenvironment and immunosuppression in pancreatic cancer. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the ongoing laboratory's research program and perform specific duties, in addition to the duties assigned to researcher level II-III. The candidate is expected to lead and conduct independent experiments, analyze and compile data, help with scholarly publications and presentations, and assist with the preparation of grant applications. Candidates with a positive attitude toward learning, executing, and delivering are encouraged to apply.

*Perform experiments, maintain accurate and comprehensive records of
the results, and present research outcomes in lab meetings. 50 %
*Researcher needs to provide support to other lab members and
required to work in the collaborative setting. 20 %
*Assist with maintaining mouse colonies for breeding, weaning,
genotyping, injections, surgery, and tissue collection. 20 %
*General laboratory upkeep and maintenance including preparing
solutions, washing dishes, autoclaving glassware and instruments,
and restocking supplies. 10 %

Qualifications

Ph.D. or MA/MS degree in appropriate field and minimum of four years relevant experience or a BA/BS degree with eight years of relevant experience
