We are seeking a seasoned Data Architect to design and build a next-generation data architecture and establish seamless data integrations across critical source systems. This hands-on role combines strategic data architecture expertise with practical engineering execution. The position requires a deep understanding of data engineering, system integration, and an ability to collaborate and influence cross-functional teams.
As a Data Architect, you will partner with our data analytics and engineering teams to create scalable and reliable data solutions. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the overall data ecosystem while maintaining a hands-on approach to building and optimizing systems. While this role includes close collaboration with team members, it does not involve direct reports.

Data Architecture & Strategy

  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable, high-performance data architectures to support analytics, operational reporting, and other organizational needs.
  • Define and enforce best practices for data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data governance.
  • Translate business requirements into actionable data architecture solutions that align with organizational goals.
  • Stay current with emerging data technologies, evaluating and integrating tools to enhance infrastructure and capabilities.

Systems Integration

  • Design and implement robust data integrations between source systems and the data architecture.
  • Develop APIs, connectors, and middleware solutions to ensure efficient and reliable data flows.
  • Optimize data ingestion workflows for performance, scalability, and fault tolerance across diverse data sources, including databases, SaaS platforms, and APIs.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve data integration issues to ensure system reliability and consistency.

Hands-On Engineering

  • Build, test, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to deliver high-quality, dependable data for business use.
  • Develop monitoring and alerting systems to proactively address pipeline or integration issues.
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code aligned with best engineering practices.
  • Continuously enhance the performance and efficiency of data workflows and storage solutions.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Act as a technical mentor, fostering knowledge-sharing and offering guidance through dotted-line relationships and collaborative initiatives.
  • Partner with Power BI developers, analysts, and engineers to ensure the architecture supports diverse business needs.
  • Advocate for best practices in data engineering, integration, and architecture, promoting a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering or architecture, with expertise in data warehousing, ETL/ELT processes, and system integration.
  • Proficiency in SQL and programming languages such as Python or Scala.
  • Experience designing and implementing data architectures on cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, Fabric).
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling techniques for various business scenarios.
  • Demonstrated success building and managing integrations with source systems using APIs, middleware, or message queues.
  • Familiarity with tools like Apache Airflow, dbt, or equivalent workflow orchestration systems.
  • In-depth understanding of data governance, security, and compliance requirements.

Preferred

  • Advanced certifications in cloud platforms or big data technologies.
  • Experience with enterprise-grade integration tools or custom middleware solutions.

*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range for this role is $92,200- $110,000 and can adjust along with the level of the role to match the person's relevant experience and/or education level.
