A Front Row Seat to Innovation Children's Hospital Colorado has partnered with Front Range Community College to provide a "earn while you learn" program for individuals interested in a healthcare career pathway as a Surgical Technician. Job Highlights: The Surgical Technician Apprentice is a clinician who with mentorship provides intra-operative technical assistance to physicians and Registered Nurses (RN) who care for patients experiencing a surgical intervention or other invasive procedure. This position will be location at our Anschutz Hospital location in Aurora. Make an Impact Qualifications: Education: Actively enrolled in an Associate's Degree Surgical Technology program and completing 3rd semester of the Associates Degree of Surgical Technology program at Front Range Community College Certification(s): American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers at time of hire. Job Highlights: The Surgical Technician Apprentice is a clinician who with mentorship provides intra-operative technical assistance to physicians and Registered Nurses (RN) who care for patients experiencing a surgical intervention or other invasive procedure. Assists with room turnovers and set-ups; restocks and orders supplies; utilizes downtime effectively; and participates in department quality improvement activities. Promotes patient safety by participating in the surgical time out; labeling medications on the field; verifying patient weight and allergies with RN prior to passing medications to physician; communication of hand-off of care when relieved during case; and selection of appropriate instruments and supplies based on patient size and procedure. Assists with patient positioning and properly identifies specimens. Monitors potential hazards for sharp or burn injury. Safely handles bio-hazardous materials and uses standard precautions and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Utilizes preference cards to prepare for surgical procedure; scrubs all cases as assigned; anticipates needs of case by opening correct supplies and instruments; is attentive to flow of the surgery so that surgeons' needs are anticipated. Salary Information Hourly Rate of Pay:Benefits Information As a Children's Hospital Colorado team member, you will receive a competitive pay and benefits package designed to take care of your needs that includes base pay, incentives, paid sick leave and a robust wellness program. As part of our Total Rewards package, Children's Colorado offers an annual employee bonus program that rewards eligible team members based on organizational performance. If organizational goals are met for the year, the bonus is paid out the following April. Children's Colorado delivers annual base pay increases to eligible team members based on their performance over the previous year. |
