Facilities Assistants Position Purpose Responsible for supporting the Construction and Facilities Manager in maintaining the operations and upkeep of our facilities. As part of a heavy equipment company, the Facilities Assistant will play a vital role in ensuring a safe, functional, and presentable environment for our team and customers. This position involves general maintenance, electrical tasks,groundskeeping, and building repairs. Facilities Assistants Essential Functions
- Communicates and supports the Kirby Smith vision and core values of One Mission, One Team, One Plan, One Goal
- Performs routine maintenance tasks, including plumbing,HVAC system checks, and minor carpentry work
- Conducts regular inspections of facilities to identify and address maintenance needs
- Assists with basic electrical repairs and troubleshooting
- Ensures compliance with electrical safety standards
- Maintains the appearance and safety of company grounds, including mowing, landscaping, and snow removal as needed
- Monitors and manages outdoor lighting and signage
- Performs minor repairs to building structures, including doors, windows, walls, and flooring
- Coordinates with contractors for larger repair projects as directed by the Construction and Facilities Manager
- Maintains inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies necessary for facility operations
- Assists in procuring maintenance materials as needed
- Assists in maintaining and managing reports for the Construction and Facilities Manager
- Travels to different company locations as needed to perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Facilities Assistants Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in maintenance or electrical work is a plus
- Proven experience in a maintenance or facilities role
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems and general repairs
- Ability to operate and maintain tools and equipment safely
- Proficient with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook, and web-based applications
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and perform manual labor
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Facilities Assistants Physical Requirements
- Pushing/Pulling/Lifting/Carrying up to 50 pounds without assistance
- Physical ability to squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop, climb, and reach overhead
- Must be able to work in extreme heat or cold andwet, damp, dusty, or windy conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises, hazardous materials, and fumes/odors
- Physically able to mount and dismount equipment continuously throughout the day
- Adheres to personal protective equipment (PPE) policy and maintains individual PPE in functional condition
