Buyer - Indirect Purchasing Job

Arkema in the Americas is looking to fill a Buyer position in Goods and Services Procurement based out of the Radnor, PA corporate headquarters.

This position reports to the Manager, Operations within the Goods and Services and has no direct reports. Other positions that may report to the Hiring Manager include; Buyers, Sr. Buyers, Purchasing Assistants, or similar roles.

This position will support Goods and Services sourcing, and purchasing by performing all functions related to planning, purchasing, negotiating, and expediting assigned goods and services. Supports Strategic and Regional Purchasing Managers to achieve department objectives and with assigned projects.

KEY ACTIVITIES

Manage Purchase Orders (40%)

  • Process purchase requisitions according to strategy as defined by Strategic Manager, within Arkema policies and procedures.
  • Examine and analyze purchase requisitions for completeness and accuracy of information; contact initiator to clarify or complete information, determine method to process requisition based on strategy and timeliness required.
  • Ensure that all policies and compliance for GASP are followed, including anticipating and informing of spend thresholds to be managed in coordination with Regional/Strategic Manager.
  • Conduct safety vetting using available tools for all Purchase Orders to on-site service providers to support the drive to 0.
  • Update delivery dates on Purchase Orders as a result of changes to the order acknowledgement, and communicate with relevant stakeholders

Issue Resolution (30%)

  • Communicate identified conflicts in delivery dates between the requested delivery date of the Planner and the Supplier, and work to resolve delivery related issues to dates, or other related issues with transactions
  • Provide assistance to ensure the complaint is communicated to category owner, the supplier, and that the supplier responds in a timely manner. Continue to monitor to ensure issues are not repeated.
  • Support and lead in Invoice reconciliations for quantity, price, or other detail issues.

Support Strategic and Regional Sourcing Managers (20%)

  • Support Strategic Managers in their efforts to achieve department objectives. Includes support of risk management projects, small capex projects and opex initiatives, and contract life cycle support, among other areas of support as needed.
  • Utilize knowledge of key suppliers and the market to optimize the source of supply and identify savings opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with Regional and Strategic Managers to identify and execute savings initiatives at the plant level.
  • In general acts as a liaison between Strategic Sourcing Manager, Regional Manager, BU's and plants.

Special Projects (10%)

  • Lead special projects for process improvements within department.
  • Understand the implications of issues and effectively manage/investigate/resolve/suggest process improvements.
  • Other projects as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in Procurement/Sourcing/Supply Chain within a manufacturing environment or minimum 5 years' proven experience for non-degreed individuals
  • Bachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or related field preferred
  • Proficient in computer software and applications including ERP such as SAP, computerized query tools, and MS Office.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written, and in presentations in English and local language as relevant
  • Good analytical and problem solving capabilities
  • Well organized and capable of multi-tasking
  • Self started with minimal supervision
  • Negotiation skills preferred
