THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Insurance Form Review Intern, you will participate in on-the-job training assignments to learn about the various functions of the Pennsylvania Insurance Department regarding form and binder reviews with specific focus on health insurance companies. You will learn about the application of regulatory standards and procedures and Pennsylvania insurance laws related to the analysis of health insurance forms, templates, and other supporting documentation within form and binder filings, specifically for major medical health insurance including qualified health plans. This professional will also perform data research using the templates and documents submitted by companies, including the retrieval and aggregation of data, and perform data analysis while notating any trends or anomalies.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Potential part-time or full-time internship, 25 to 37.5 hours per week.
  • This internship runs from May through August 2025.
  • Work schedule will be flexible within the hours of 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, and in alignment with the supervisor/work unit.
  • Parking is provided by the agency.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Internship Requirements:

  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program.
  • Spring of 2025 graduates may also be considered for this program.
  • Enrolled in a business administration, public administration, healthcare administration, social science or behavioral sciences, statistics, data analytics, data science, computer science, health and information technology, or a related program.
  • Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher).

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
