Location: Mt. Sterling, IL
Department: Accounting
Reports To: Accounting Manager
Salary Range: $62,113 - $93,169 annually, plus bonus opportunity

As a Senior Staff Accountant, you will serve as the lead Accounting team member for critical, complex business functions such as gross margin, inventory management, fixed asset accounting, financial reporting, foreign currency, intercompany/consolidations, and supplier / customer profitability.

WHAT YOU'LL DO



  • Drives initiatives to produce accurate and improved end-of-period and budgetary financial reporting
  • Leads Accounting's collaborative efforts with Business Development, Sales, and Accounts Receivable to ensure accurate reporting of the company's gross margin
  • Leads the accounting function of the budget process for assigned business area or process
  • Works with the inventory control team to understand inventory loss/gain results and to establish procedures that minimize the unknown
  • Collaborates with Sales and Business Development leadership to produce and enhance the accuracy and usability of all supplier and customer profitability reporting
  • Represents the accounting team on new company initiatives.
  • Applies lean thinking and tools to identify and eliminate waste in all areas of the position.


YOU MUST HAVE



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • 2 years professional accounting experience
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs such as Excel and Access.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to meet established deadlines/goal dates.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.


ROLE SPECIFICS

Travel - Occasional overnight travel to company meetings, planning events, and distribution center visits. Must have ability to travel independently as needed, without restriction by all modes of transportation, including car, plane, or train.
