The Student Affairs divisional standard for hybrid work is four days on campus and one remote day per week to ensure accessibility and support for students.

Position Purpose
The Director of Greek Life and Student Societies provides leadership, oversight, and support for Greek life organizations, councils, and student societies, fostering a vibrant and inclusive student community. The Director ensures that all organizations align with the College's values, policies, and expectations while promoting a positive and enriching experience for members. In collaboration with staff, faculty, Greek advisors, and alumni, the Director enhances student engagement and leadership development within Greek Life and student societies, contributing to the broader campus community.

Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp Masters or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Minimum 7 years professional experience in student affairs administration, or equivalent experience in other appropriate student program administration or closely related field.
  • Proven record of successful student leadership development, student organization oversight, program management and supervisory experience.
  • Sound judgment, initiative and discretion.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster positive and productive relationships with all campus constituencies, including students, faculty, staff, alumni and divisional and institutional leadership.
  • Outstanding proficiency in teamwork, collaboration, and problem-solving.
  • Ability to take initiative, balance competing priorities, and exercise sound judgment under pressure.
  • Solid foundation in student development theory and student learning theory, and their application to professional practice in higher education and student affairs.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence; proven effectiveness in serving the needs of a diverse undergraduate student population.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous supervision and strategic planning experience strongly recommended.

Key Accountabilities


Description
Program Management -

  • Supervises Greek Life and Student Society staff, including managing recruitment, hiring, training, management, and evaluation of staff.
  • Develops and implements a strategic vision for Greek Life and Student Societies that aligns with Dartmouth's mission.
  • Monitors compliance with College policies for student organizations; collaborates with Community Standards, Title IX, and Safety and Security on disciplinary matters.
  • Serves as a consultant to the Organizational Adjudication Committee on misconduct cases involving Greek organizations, undergraduate societies, and senior societies.
  • Develops and manages operational budgets for all areas of responsibility.
  • Collects and analyzes data to assess Greek Life program effectiveness; prepares reports and presentations for senior leadership and stakeholders.

Leadership Development -

  • Advises the Greek Leadership Council on event planning, organizational issues, and leadership development.
  • Collaborates with campus partners to sponsor student leadership development and training programs.

Description
Stakeholder Collaboration -

  • Collaborates with Housing and Residential Operations to monitor and support residential spaces for GLASS; coordinates student transfers in and out of the Greek Life community.
  • Conducts walkthroughs with Housing and Facilities staff and advocates for the residential needs of GLASS.
  • Works in partnership with Alumni Relations to develop student-alumni engagement programs; serves as a liaison to national fraternity and sorority organizations and advisers.
  • Collaborates closely with Wellness to promote a holistic approach to student well-being by developing joint programs, workshops, and resources that address mental health, substance abuse, and healthy lifestyle choices within the Greek Life and Student Societies community.
