This is an exciting role as a Director, Product Manager with Mercury Systems charting the future of Displays and Networking. The Director will drive the development and communication of the product line's key value proposition and serve as the central authority on the product line's design, manufacturing, test, quality, and marketing throughout its life cycle. You will have the opportunity to play a key role in increasing the profitability of our existing products and helping to identify and develop new products that address anticipated future customer needs.

The successful candidate will be a driving force helping to evolve our existing product line based upon inputs you glean from a variety of sources (e.g., within the company, from suppliers or from customers in the field). This technical position fills the divide between customer requirements and the capabilities of our team, acting as a liaison with our in-house engineering groups and external suppliers and clients.

Job Responsibility:



  • This role will manage product lifecycles working in tandem with fellow product managers, product engineers, and cross-functional teams to drive revenue for new and legacy product programs throughout their entire product life cycle.
  • Collaborates with sales, technical customer support, operations, engineering, and product marketing to achieve stated goals throughout the whole product lifecycle
  • Develops and maintains product roadmaps aligned with our defense and aerospace customer roadmaps
  • Specifying market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by input from sales, business development, and key customers.
  • Providing integral support for Sales/FAE teams in product quotation process and order acceptance to provide responsive customer support and achieve financial goals.
  • Supporting the implementation of a company-wide go-to-market plan, collaborating with all departments to understand the product positioning, key benefits, target customer(s) and execute.
  • Driving solution sets across development teams through market requirements, product definition, and positioning/shaping.
  • Drives operational aspects of new product introduction, from concept through development, production, and end-of-life
  • Analyzing and suggesting potential partner relationships for the product line
  • Maintain catalog offerings and product pricing
  • Provides technical support/partnerships for new projects, sustaining products, trade shows and sales support
  • Work with your engineering team counterparts to define product release requirements
  • Owns end-of-life planning, purchases, and long-term life cycle management for assigned product lines (Obsolescence management/mitigation)
  • Facilitating updates to product price list, product ordering status, product lead times, product cost analyses, and product configuration changes driven by customer requirements, obsolescence or product strategy.
  • Tracks projects and marketing metrics
  • Integral to the product quote process, gathering data to direct future product definitions and develop and maintain the product pricing/positioning process.
  • Working with Supply Chain Planners/Buyers to analyze Bill of Material (BOM) component lifecycles, costing, lead times, and inventory status to effectively monitor and manage product lifecycles, pricing strategies and long-term MRP planning.
  • Stay current with trends and issues across our product market to understand problems, opportunities, and find innovative solutions for the broader market and win position.



Required Qualification:



  • Technical / Engineering or Business/marketing-related degree
  • 12+ years of experience required in related discipline; Aviation, Aerospace & Defense, or Commercial Electronics Technical/ Industry experience in a manufacturing product management role
  • Experience doing business with the US Department of Defense
  • Full understanding of industry practices/policies/procedures
  • Experience with electronics and optical design, manufacturing operations, inventory management
  • Experience with hardware, software, and optical Life-Cycle development processes
  • Experience developing Product Roadmap and alignment with cross-business applications
  • Experience in communicating with customers and Executive Leadership both written and oral communication
  • Experience with maintaining catalog offerings and product pricing; inclusive of product cost analyses and product strategy
  • Travel may be required at a minimum of 25% (within the US and international as required)
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • This position requires you to have or obtain a government security clearance. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.


Preferred Qualification:



  • Specific technical knowledge in cockpit management systems
  • Ability to take complex technical subjects and make them understandable to customers, both internal and external, of varying technical ability by using analogies and illustrations
  • Leadership experience
  • Collaborative work style
