Propulsion System Transmission Diagnostic Calibration Engineer Lead

The Transmission OBD Calibration Lead is responsible to lead a group of engineers to develop diagnostic calibrations focused on robust detection of OBD and service relevant fault conditions for global state of the art propulsion systems.
The Calibration Manager ensures that group work is managed through direct reports to deliver on-time calibration releases meeting internal requirements and region specific OBD regulation. The manager actively manages issues to drive prompt and thorough resolution, requiring task delegation among direct reports as well as timely escalation when roadblocks are encountered. The manager develops resource and project plans for future applications, leads hiring efforts and works with the department manager to balance workloads. They also deliver regular reports to upper management, manage control system suppliers, and interact with compliance teams as well as regulatory bodies regarding field concerns.
An actively developed engineering team being critical to long term team success, the manager encourages and guides direct reports to define & achieve individual development plans. The manager provides routine and honest feedback to reports on job performance, sets individual goals, and conducts formal performance reviews.
Work typically includes 1 - 4 weeks of travel throughout the year for system validation, and overnight drives to verify calibration work.

Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or an equivalent Engineering degree from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in propulsion system development and calibration
  • Experience with OBD diagnostic calibration and global OBD regulations
  • Exhibit strong leadership presence by engaging management as necessary to remove barriers to achieve project objectives
  • Working knowledge of propulsion system analysis and calibration tools, transmission development & technology and competitive products
  • Ability to balance work on many projects simultaneously
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills
  • Data acquisition experience collecting and processing data



Preferred Qualifications:


  • Master's degree in Mechanical or Mechanical Engineering or Business Management from an accredited university
  • 5 years combined Transmission and OBD calibration experience
  • 3 years experience leading/managing a team of engineers
  • Project management of purchased components and/or control systems
  • Experience in engine/transmission design and development and/or Powertrain Systems Engineering
