Under the direction of the Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness, the Director, Institutional Research & Data Analytics, works collaboratively to optimize data collection, enhance systems requiring data support, and develop meaningful reports and tools to increase student success. The position will also work closely with senior leaders to forward data informed initiatives leading to greater student success. Leads and supervises the Institutional Research Department to enable the college to coordinate data-informed decisions and optimize outcome performance. Develops and evaluates best practices for the district. Work requires the use of independent judgment, prioritizing while working from broad institutional and divisional policies and general objectives. Communication is continuous between the division, industry partners, and specialized agencies.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

- Data Management, Analysis and Student Success: Oversees the collection, management, and analysis of institutional data to support strategic planning, accreditation, student success, resource allocation, and compliance reporting. Develops and maintains dashboards, reports, analytical tools, and statistical modeling with predictive analysis to provide actionable insights for District leadership. Designs and implements surveys and focus groups to understand and provide insights on student success and performance outcomes. Organizes and presents KPI dashboard data to the District Board and other constituents.
- Collaboration & Training: Works directly with system leaders in Information Technology, EAB Navigate, and other departments to develop and improve systems for various units to provide data insights and improve functionality for student servicing areas. Also, works collaboratively to develop systems for improving college data collection, reporting, and storage. Provides training and consultation to faculty, staff, and leadership on data literacy and the use of institutional research tools.
- Regulatory Compliance & Reporting, Accreditation and Funding: Supports strategic planning and accreditation to advance plan and maintain accreditation. Ensures compliance with state, federal, and accreditation data reporting requirements (e.g., IPEDS, state education agencies, accrediting bodies). Oversees the development of state and federal financial, student, and staff accounting reports. Leads performance funding, data gathering process resulting in successful state funding.
- Research & Policy Development: Supervises and ensures quality institutional research processes, protocols, and activities. Conducts research studies and statistical analyses to inform policy development, enrollment management, student retention, and academic program assessment.
- Data-Driven Decision Making and Continuous Improvement: Leverages data analytics to drive informed decision-making and fosters continuous improvement within the area of responsibility. Analyzes key performance indicators (KPIs) and relevant metrics to gain actionable insights and monitors performance measures aligned with organizational goals. Utilities data to inform strategic and operational decisions.
- Applies continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Plan-Do-Study-Act) based on data analysis promoting a data-driven culture and enhancing team data literacy.
- Committee Participation and System Engagement: Leads the Research IRB committee and organizes, reviews, and debriefs meetings among stakeholders. Attends internal and external meetings and may serve as chair/co-chair for other committees.
- Ethics and Confidentiality: Practices honesty by demonstrating a consistent and uncompromising adherence to strong moral and ethical principles, values, truthfulness, and accuracy in all actions. Addresses all student and employee behavior in a confidential and respectful manner.
- Budget Planning and Fiscal Administration: Provides data needed for an annual budget for assigned division in accordance with institutional policies and ensures effective operations within those controls.
- Cross Functional Relationships and Collaborative Teamwork: Establishes, maintains, and enhances positive work relationships with staff, faculty, administrators, and other stakeholders.
- Leadership and Supervision: Develops and manages a high performing team that is highly skilled and motivates staff to remain focused on the delivery of quality and value-added services and allocates cross-functional responsibilities and work processes. Responsibilities include hiring, coaching/mentoring, performance management, and progressive discipline as needed.
- Continuous Learning & Professional Development: Maintains current knowledge of best practices and standards in higher education with an emphasis on community colleges. Actively organizes and/or participates in applicable workgroups, trainings, workshops, seminars, committees and professional associations or conferences to promote continuous learning.
- Other duties: Performs other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operation of the division and to support institutional objectives.

Qualifications
-
Compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards/requirement, as well as all MATC policies and procedures. Required Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field and seven (7) years of related work experience with three (3) years of supervisory experience or one (1) year of staff supervision combined with an Emerging Leaders equivalency. Preferred Education & Experience: Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field and four (4) years of experience with a minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience. This position is full-time and supports Institutional Research department.
