DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Mental Health Program Specialist 1, you will play a crucial role in improving the well-being of individuals in Fayette County. Your responsibilities will include developing, coordinating, reviewing, evaluating, and monitoring behavioral health services, with a focus on implementing recovery and resilience principles and utilizing best practice models. You will also be responsible for coordinating community based care management between various organizations, such as Fayette County Behavioral Health, Fayette HealthChoices, and other community-based organizations, to address social determinants of health. You will be participating in the development of new services, assessing community needs, researching service models, interpreting regulations and other requirements, and reviewing service proposals and budgets. Additionally, you will review and assess referrals for the Community Based Care Management Program and ensure that individuals are connected to appropriate community-based organizations that can help mitigate social determinants of health. Your work will have a significant impact on the overall health and well-being of the community.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of professional level experience in the field of mental health; and a bachelor's degree; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:
  • This particular position also requires applicants possess a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Fayette County. If no eligible candidates who live within Fayette County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
