Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Office of Clinical Operations is responsible for overseeing patient care, providing quality assurance, maintaining infection control, administering regulatory compliance and preserving fiscal stability. The Office of Clinical Operations is an integral part of the School and their primary mission is to provide the highest quality education and training to students and to provide the highest quality dental treatment available for patients.
Position Summary
The Clinical Care Coordinator is primarily responsible for providing support and mentorship to the DDS students with their patient care management. This position will interact with the Preceptor for this group of students to ensure coordination and efficient functioning of the group. It will also track individual student progress and clinical attendance across the group, with the aim of successful completion of their patient care experiences and aid in patient assignment to these students to meet any deficits. This position responds to patient inquiries and concerns regarding their care by their student provider. It performs patient record audits and provides guidance to the students to aid in risk management efforts.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Ability to read and understand dental radiographs, clinical charting, and dental treatment record notes. Ability to provide kind, patient, friendly and timely student support and guidance to aid in high quality patient care management. Ability to remain professional and calm with interactions with patients, students, staff and faculty while providing a high level of customer service.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Dental assistant/hygienist experience preferred.

Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Ability to remain calm with a positive customer service attitude.
Campus Security Authority Responsibilities
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
