WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

As a Quarantine and Labeling Technician, you will perform final product labeling of all blood products, retrieve products for quarantine, evaluate products for release for patient use. A QL Technician will work independently with a high volume of work with minimal supervision.

As a Red Cross Team member, you will take care of your team members - show up for every shift and give 100% while you're there. Interact in a positive, proactive, and customer-focused manner with both internal and external customers, demonstrating care and compassion at all times

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manufacture, label, and store blood products according to applicable Red Cross policies and procedures.

  • Receive and review test results, run labeling program and processes.

  • May irradiate/x-ray of blood products for special orders.

  • Manage sample tubes and prepare for shipment; appropriately manage any exceptions, and ensure products are suitable for release to distribution.

  • Meet the quality and quantity production and distribution goals established by the department.

  • Prioritize workload to meet production and customer requirements.

  • Perform data entry and operate the computer programs associated with component production, labeling, storage, and sample tube management, perform disposition of unacceptable products/samples when necessary.

  • Operate, maintain and perform validation and quality control checks on equipment.

  • Maintain accurate electronic and physical inventory locations for products/samples and ensure adequate inventory of required supplies.

  • Analyze and make decisions based on visual inspection and information provided from other departments to meet time requirements and quality standards.

Standard Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday OR Sunday-Thursday, 12:15am - 8:45am

Pay Information: $18-$19.79, plus applicable shift differential for working late nights, overnights, and on the weekends.

Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • High School or equivalent required.

  • Minimum 2 years of related experience in a regulatory, laboratory, or manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and related experience preferred.

  • Good computer skills, attention to detail, accurate documentation, and good decision-making skills.

  • Ability to use a wide variety of lab or medical equipment.

  • Ability to use a personal computer and applicable software for sustained periods.

  • Good communication skills. Ability to work on a team.

WHAT WILL GIVE YOU THE COMPETITIVE EDGE:

  • Associates degree in science a plus

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Frequently lift and/or move objects 10-50lbs unassisted. Frequently required to push carts weighing up to 100 pounds on flat flooring or ramps. Frequently required to stand for long periods, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch. Able to withstand temperatures in a typical blood banking environment including refrigerators and freezers.
