Summary
Responsible for 24/7 monitoring, control, operation, maintenance, safety, security, and custodial care of the Company's Liquefied Natural Gas Facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain liquefaction process to provide storage and transfer of liquid natural gas.
- Operate and maintain vaporization equipment to provide transfer and send out of natural gas vapor.
- Operate and maintain off-site Satellite LNG Facilities at Double Springs and East Lauderdale
- Operate and maintain Portable LNG Vaporizer at onsite and offsite locations as needed
- Monitor transportation and storage of flammable and other potentially dangerous products to ensure that safety guidelines are followed. Monitor equipment operation to ensure proper functioning.
- Control operation of compressors, scrubbers, evaporators, and refrigeration equipment to liquefy, compress, or regasify natural gas. Operate natural gas equipment. Start up and shut down equipment.
- Monitor equipment functioning, observe temperature, level, and flow, perform regular equipment checks to insure all equipment is operating as it should.
- Control equipment to regulate flow and pressure of gas to feedlines of boilers, heaters, and related steam-generating and heating equipment.
- Record, review, and compile operations records, test results, and gauge readings such as temperatures, pressures, flow rates, and concentrations.
- Adjust temperature, pressure, vacuum, level, flow rate, and/or transfer of gas to maintain processes at required levels or to correct problems.
- Clean, maintain, and repair equipment, using hand tools, meters, test equipment, and calibration devices.
- Control fractioning columns, compressors, purifying towers, heat exchangers, and related equipment to extract nitrogen and oxygen from air.
- Collaborate with other operators to solve operation problems.
- Determine causes of abnormal pressure variances and make corrective recommendations and control adjustments.
- Review log sheets to optimize efficiency and detect malfunctions.
- Test gas, chemicals and refrigerants during processing to assess factors such as purity, moisture content, molecular weight, and to detect quality problems or leaks.
- Load, unload, maintain and transport LNG tank trailers
- Load and transfer liquid refrigerants
- Maintain, test, and monitor a multitude of safety devices, gas and flame detection, lighting, fire water, dry chemical extinguishers, gas chromatographs.
- Maintain accurate written and computer log sheets, inventory, equipment history, events log
- Troubleshoot operational problems with equipment, machinery, computers, controls
- Operate and maintain grounds maintenance equipment
- Custodial and housekeeping of buildings and facilities
- Fire monitoring, alerts, first response fire control and extinguishment
- Security monitoring, assessment and notification
- Monitor plant entry, check work areas, purge systems, Lockout-Tagout of electrical switchgear and provide Safety work permits daily for hot work, equipment entry into storage areas, etc.

All duties of this position are required within an active natural gas storage facility, in a known hazardous environment due to exposures with flammable liquids and vapors and multiple pressures, high voltage electrical circuits, heights, confined spaces.
Requires use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) clothing, eye wear, boots
Physical demands, environment and schedule
- Must be able to climb ladders, platforms, stairs, working well above grade
- Must be able to perform duties on storage tanks in excess of 100 feet as well as operating personnel lifts to those heights.
- Must be able to perform duties in confined spaces
- Requires work outdoors, in all types of weather, year-round.
- Involves work on and around heavy duty compression equipment
- Requires exposure and handling of cryogenic liquids
- Requires exposure and handling of flammable refrigerants and gases
- Requires stamina and acute maneuverability
- Requires ability to lift and carry loads in excess of 20 pounds
- Requires use of all type hand tools (wrenches, hammers, drills, saws, etc)
- Requires 24 hr on call availability
- Requires work alone 24/7
- Requires work on 24 hour rotating shifts
- Requires flexibility in scheduling work hours due to system demands and personnel availability
- Requires ability to communicate accurately
- Requires ability to monitor and assess operational disruptions, making judgement decisions that will affect operational efficiency and safety
- Requires ability to assess emergency situations, respond effectively and efficiently, and communicate problems to others
