The University of Iowa Community Clinics (UICC) is seeking a patient centeredPRN Staff Nurse to work at our Rural Primary Care Clinics (Tipton, Solon, and West Branch). This position will support our Family Medicine Clinics. This position will support the clinic in providing phone triage support, helping with prior authorizations, as well as assist with nurse visits.

Our Family Medicine staff can see everyone in the family, in every generation, from birth, for life. And when anyone in the family needs specialty care, our family medicine provider connects our patients with the UI Health Care specialist needed. UIHC specialists will consult the same medical record used by our family medicine provider so our patient's specialty care is streamlined.

This position will mainly support our patients at Tipton, Solon, and West Branch Clinics but could float to other clinic locations based on clinical needs/hours.

Duties to include:



  • Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness.
  • Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations.
  • Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings.
  • Develops patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
  • Implements patient care plan according to patient priorities, which includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses. Documents/reports interventions and patient/family response.
  • Collaborates and integrates contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plan.
  • Develops, coordinates and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of care.
  • Implements nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients, visitors and staff. Follows universal precautions.
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards

Percent of Time: 25% (10 - 20 hours per week)

Schedule: Variable hours as needed Monday - Friday from 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM with no weekends, no holidays and no on-call time

Location: Tipton, Solon, West Branch, and West Liberty (and surround clinics/locations based on clinic needs)

Pay Grade: 52 https://hr.uiowa.edu/pay/guide-pay-plans/seiu-hourly-pay-plan

Salary: $26.10 up to $50.00

Qualifications:

Education:



  • An Associate's Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BSN), Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required.


Required Qualifications



  • Current license to practice in the state of Iowa by the time of hire.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions.
  • General computer skills are required.
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.


Highly Desirable Qualifications



  • 1 - 2 years Primary Care/Family Med nursing experience.
  • Previous EPIC experience.
  • Previous phlebotomy experience.
  • Previous immunization experience.


Desirable Qualifications



  • If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable.
  • Previous triage experience in outlook.
  • Previous ambulatory nursing care experience.
