Job Purpose:

The Executive Director of Biostatistics for Real-World Data, Measurement and Analytics (RWDMA) will lead an expert team, providing both strategic and operational statistical support across real-world data initiatives. This position is pivotal in building and managing a world-class team, dedicated to the advancement of biostatistical methodologies and applications for real-world data. In addition to fostering cross-functional partnerships and pioneering innovative methodologies in causal inference, clinical outcomes assessment, longitudinal and prediction modeling, evidence synthesis, and precision medicine, the Executive Director will effectively integrate artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques into biostatistical practices. A key responsibility includes driving external engagements, such as academic collaborations, conference strategy, and the development of a post-doctoral fellowship program aimed at nurturing new talent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Development:

    • Lead and cultivate a world-class team of biostatisticians, dedicated to advancing the field of biostatistics within RWDA.

    • Oversee recruitment, development, and performance management of the RWDA biostatistics team, promoting a culture committed to continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration.

    • Establish cross-functional working groups to ensure consistent and high-quality statistical support across various therapeutic areas.

    • Implement training, mentorship, and professional development initiatives to support the growth and retention of biostatistical talent.

    • Create and direct a post-doctoral fellowship program to attract and train emerging talent, building a strong pipeline for new staff.

  • Strategic & Operational Leadership:

    • Provide strategic guidance and biostatistical expertise to stakeholders using RWD in R&D, epidemiology, and post-approval studies, ensuring alignment with company goals and regulatory requirements.

    • Spearhead methodological development and innovation in areas such as causal inference, clinical outcomes assessment, longitudinal modeling, evidence synthesis, precision medicine, and the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning.

    • Develop and manage an external engagement strategy with academic partners and key opinion leaders (KOLs) to foster collaborative research and innovation in biostatistical methodologies.

  • Cross-functional Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Collaborate with leaders in Biostatistics and across R&D, aligning RWDA objectives with broader organizational goals and ensuring cohesive support across functions.

    • Serve as the senior point of contact for RWD biostatistical expertise, contributing to strategic planning and promoting advanced statistical methods.

    • Oversee the preparation and dissemination of scientific publications, white papers, and presentations to communicate research findings to the scientific community.

    • Work closely with clinical, regulatory, data science, medical affairs, and commercial teams to integrate statistical strategies with organizational goals and industry standards.

  • Communication and Strategic Initiatives:

    • Lead strategic communication efforts to promote and share biostatistical work deliverables within the organization and with external audiences.

    • Present statistical analyses and insights clearly and effectively at conferences, in publications, and during key stakeholder meetings, reinforcing the value of biostatistical contributions.

Basic Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or M.S. in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in biostatistics within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, academia, or healthcare industry, with a focus on real-world data.

  • 5 years plus experience in leading teams and developing talent, with a history of building high-performing biostatistics groups.

  • 5 years plus experience in methodologies relevant to real-world data, including causal inference, clinical outcomes assessment, predictive modeling, and evidence synthesis, with strong capabilities in artificial intelligence and machine learning.

  • 5 years plus experience in methodological research and innovation, with a record of publications contributing to the field of RWD.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and with external partners.

  • Demonstrated success in establishing and maintaining academic collaborations and strategic partnerships.

  • Experience in establishing or managing post-doctoral or fellowship initiatives.

  • Record of influential publications or contributions to the field of real-world data biostatistics.

  • Demonstrated strategic vision for biostatistics in RWD, with a capacity to drive innovation within a large organization.
