Overview
The Utah State University (USU) Extension Create Better Health (SNAP-ED) program is a comprehensive program that helps low-income individuals and families by providing direct education on basic nutrition, cooking skills and physical activity to youth and adults both online and face-to-face (as situations allow); collaborates with community partners to improve healthy food access and physical activity opportunities within communities (PSE work); provides outreach and education through social media platforms; works as an influencer on social media platforms.

The Create Better Health State Office is seeking a qualified individual (Program Coordinator II) to work full-time providing capacity building elements of the program above through volunteer coordination, online program coordination, and continuous quality improvement coordination. Reporting program progress and impacts is an essential part of this work. Familiarity with SNAP procedures and local community food distribution sites is desirable.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with state team to track volunteer projects and opportunities that will build program capacity for Create Better Health.
  • Coordinate system to train, schedule, guide, and recognize volunteers in coordination with the volunteer preceptor or supervisor.
  • Collaborate with direct education coordinator and Spanish online program ambassador to expand SNAP-Ed education and increase engagement through English online courses, guiding participants through live or self-paced courses.
  • Assist program manager with building program capacity and optimizing systems through continuous quality improvement reviews and projects, grant writing, reports, and journal articles.
  • Create, compose, and edit written materials for programming and interpersonal communication.
  • Professional development to maintain current practices and techniques with volunteer coordination, virtual education, and system optimization.
  • Keep documentation of work organized and up to date in office management systems and reporting systems.


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree, or 4-year education equivalent in the fields of public health, nutrition, education, or family consumer sciences.
  • 2+ years of experience working with Create Better Health
  • Familiarity with Create Better Health state office roles and systems
  • Background in nutrition education
  • Ability to work effectively with a team
  • Comfortable using computers and software such as Microsoft Suite, Zoom, Canvas, Qualtrics, and PEARs (Program Evaluation and Reporting System)
  • Experience developing curriculum and trainings for direct education
  • Experience coordinating logistics of programs and/or events

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understanding of capacity building through continuous quality improvement
  • Experience with leading interns and/or volunteers to achieve program goals.
  • Experience with grant search and writing process
