Department Summary

The Institute for Health Disparities (IHD) conducts research, training and community outreach in the areas of minority health, health disparities and workforce diversity. Constituting the IHD are the Texas Center for Health Disparities, National Research Mentoring Network, Texas CEAL Consortium, Diversity Training Programs, AIM-AHEAD and the NIMHD Endowment.

Position Overview

AIM-AHEAD Coordinating Center: Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Consortium to Advance health Equity and Researcher Diversity. The Director, Award Management will work under the Principal Investigator of the AIM-AHEAD Leadership/Administration Core within the AIM-AHEAD Consortium. The Associate Director will provide support to the Multiple Principal Investigators of the Leadership/Administration Core Regional Hubs in regard to the day-to-day management of the AIM AHEAD scope in order to ensure project goals and milestones are effectively implemented and met.

Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of six (6) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications



  • Degrees in one or more of the following: STEM, Higher Education, Information Science, Business Management, Finance
  • Background in minority health, health disparities, and diversity training
  • Grant management and federal grant program experience
  • Publications and teaching experience will be a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communicator (written and verbal)
  • Comfortable Public Speaking
  • Data skills: analysis, interpretation, presentation

Job Duties:



  • Handle day-to-day management of AIM AHEAD to ensure project goals and milestones are effectively implemented and met.
  • Provide and support strategic direction for the planning and organization of AIM AHEAD Coordinating Center activities.
  • Recruit, develop, and maintain external partner relationships to support the goals of AIM AHEAD.
  • Work closely with the administrative core hubs, data science training core, data research core and infrastructure core to ensure cohesive, integrated, and smooth operation of the program.
  • Collaborate with consortium institutions and internal constituents to ensure appropriate support systems are in place to accomplish the goals of the program.
  • Provide management of the program budget and support reporting responsibilities.
  • Support manuscript development, publications, and nationwide dissemination of AIM-AHEAD outcomes
  • Other duties as assigned
