Department Summary The Department of Physics at the University of North Texas offers both undergraduate and graduate programs and is committed to carrying out state-of-the-art research across a number of areas of physics such as materials physics, photonics, computational physics, high energy physics, atomic and nuclear physics, plasma physics, theoretical and quantum physics, and astrophysics. With approximately 20 research active faculty members, over 70 graduate students are mentored in research. More details about the department can be found at www.physics.unt.edu. Position Overview The primary responsibilities of this Postdoctoral Research Associate will include conducting scientific ion-solid interaction-based research, instrumentation, analyzing results, and reporting on findings associated with the recently grant awarded by US Space Force Space Strategic Technology Institute (SSTI). The award is being led by Rochester Institute of Technology with subaward to UNT. Minimum Qualifications PhD in Physics or a related field. Candidates who have submitted their PhD dissertation and passed the final oral examination for the PhD degree are also eligible. Minimum 3 years' experience with operation and maintenance of National Electrostatic Corporation, Pelletron accelerator and experience with ion irradiation experiments. Preferred Qualifications Experience with operation and maintenance of National Electrostatic Corporation, Pelletron accelerator, beamline, ion microprobe, and experience with ion beam irradiation and analysis experiments, and a strong publication record.
