The employee will become part of the Purdy paintbrush manufacturing team in the bristle department. Purdy manufactures professional painting tools of the highest quality. This position will be required to setup and run the mixer machine.

The mixing machines mix different sizes and types of bristle or filament. When mixing synthetic filaments, the machine also roughens the butt end of the filament to help it hold the epoxy.

2nd Shift: 2:00pm - 10:15pm

Job duties include contact with other employees, operating heavy machinery, and access to proprietary information, raw materials, finished merchandise, and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company's staff, employees, and vendors.




  • Use scanner to scan on and off orders. Input accurate data into scanner.
  • Retrieve materials from Mixer MTO area.
  • Count and divide all bristle bundles into loads.
  • Use basic math skills to figure out how many bundles go in each layout bin.
  • Layout bristle or filament according to the order of layers on the work order.
  • Setup, load, and test the mixer machine.
  • Have mix checked and approved by team manager or team lead.
  • Have a brush head sample made by brushmaking department team manager or team lead.
  • Run the machine through the correct amount of mix cycles.
  • Unload the mixer and put bristle or filament into bins.
  • Constantly monitor quality of mix and butt rough.
  • Remove any defective bristle or filament.
  • Move mix and ticket to appropriate brushmaking line.
  • Keep work area clean and conduct a final cleaning near the end of each shift.
  • Maintain Accurate Metrics: Pounds Mixed, Downtime, Maintenance Log, etc.
  • Complete mixer production sheet.


Minimum Requirements:



  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Have at least one (1) year of work experience operating machinery in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment
