Hourly Range: $21.99 Per Hour

Job Title: Maintenance Trades Helper

Position Summary:

A Maintenance Trades Helper assists General Maintenance Workers, Electricians, Mechanics and Technicians to perform preventative and corrective maintenance and repair of various equipment and buildings in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, landscaping and electrical work.

Responsibilities:

• Keeps workers supplied with materials and tools, cleaning working area, machines and equipment; assisting by holding materials or tools; and performing other unskilled tasks as directed by site staff; performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings
• Required to be on a monthly on-call rotation (one week at a time)
• Snow removal
• Paints structures and equipment
• Inspect buildings and equipment for needed maintenance or repairs
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management
• Assists in policing the grounds for any litter, landscape concerns, or issues with security fencing and gates
• Operates a motor vehicle with gross vehicle weight of up to 10,000 pounds to transport tools, materials and self to work site. Position loads and unloads vehicle and completes driver's accident report in case of accident. Position performs driver's maintenance in accordance with established rules and regulations.
• Uses and maintains tools and equipment
• Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Appropriate protective clothing and/or equipment are provided to minimize or eliminate hazardous conditions, and its use is mandatory.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Computer skills required: Basic computer skills Entry Level Mechanical Aptitude
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Shall have a minimum of 2 years' experience in facilities maintenance work.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Continually required to stand, walk, stoop, bend, and kneel
• Continually required to talk or hear
• Occasionally required to climb ladders and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
• Occasionally required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
• Occasionally required to lift, carry, push items up to 100 pounds
• Occasionally required to work outdoors
• Occasionally exposed to dirt, sewage, dust, grease, fumes, and refrigerant gasses that may require use of protective clothing and equipment in accordance with established health and safety regulations and SOPs.
