Ignite Digital Services is seeking a highly skilled AI/ML Specialist to support the Unmanned Naval Innovation Team at NIWC Atlantic in Charleston, SC. This role involves developing, implementing, and optimizing machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions to enhance unmanned systems' operational capabilities in naval environments. The ideal candidate will work closely with data scientists, software engineers, and military personnel to drive AI/ML innovation for autonomous maritime systems and decision-support applications.

Key Responsibilities:
* AI/ML Model Development & Deployment: Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models for real-time and predictive analytics in naval unmanned systems.
* Data Analysis & Feature Engineering: Collect, preprocess, and analyze large datasets to train, validate, and improve AI/ML models.
* Autonomous Systems Integration: Work on AI-driven autonomy, sensor fusion, and decision-making algorithms to enhance unmanned vehicle operations.
* Model Optimization & Performance Tuning: Improve AI/ML models for efficiency, accuracy, and real-time deployment in constrained environments.
* Collaboration & Cross-functional Support: Collaborate with software engineers, roboticists, and mission planners to integrate AI capabilities into naval applications.
* Security & Compliance: Ensure AI solutions meet Department of Defense (DoD) cybersecurity and ethical AI standards.
* Documentation & Reporting: Maintain thorough documentation of AI/ML models, algorithms, and research findings for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Training & Knowledge Sharing: Develop training materials and conduct knowledge-sharing sessions for technical teams and operational personnel.

Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in AI/ML development, deep learning, and data analytics.
* Strong programming skills in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar AI frameworks.
* Experience in Automatic Target Recognition, computer vision, natural language processing (NLP), or reinforcement learning.
* Understanding of AI/ML model deployment on edge devices, embedded systems, or cloud platforms.
* Familiarity with DoD data security standards, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and AI ethics guidelines.
* Proficiency in working with large-scale datasets, sensor fusion, and real-time processing.
* Experience with AI applications in robotics, autonomy, or unmanned systems.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for optimizing AI solutions in real-world defense applications.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Master's or Ph.D. in AI/ML, Data Science, or a related field.
* Experience with AI in defense, military, or autonomous system applications.
* Familiarity with AI-driven cybersecurity solutions for autonomous platforms.
* Background in applying AI/ML to naval, maritime, or aerospace technologies.
* Expertise in Generative AI, LLMs, or federated learning.
* Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret or Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
* This position may require up to 25% travel for on-site system testing, training, and collaboration at various military installations.
