Software Engineering Intern

We are looking for a passionate and driven Software Engineering Intern to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to learn, grow, and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, innovative environment. As a Software Engineering Intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to real-world projects, collaborate with experienced engineers, and hone your technical skills in an impactful way.

Responsibilities:
As a Software Engineering Intern at Zayo, you will:

  • Collaborate with senior engineers to design, implement, and test software solutions that support Zayo's mission-critical infrastructure.

  • Contribute to ongoing projects involving large-scale data sets and infrastructure automation.

  • Take ownership of assigned tasks, move quickly to gather feedback, and improve the work you deliver.

  • Refactor and optimize code to improve performance and scalability across various systems.

  • Contribute to open-source projects and demonstrate the impact of your contributions.

  • Participate in debugging and troubleshooting technical challenges across distributed systems.

  • Help maintain clear documentation of your work and share insights with your team.

  • Gain exposure to networking and infrastructure automation technologies, including internet infrastructure solutions like dark fiber, Ethernet, and more.

  • Analyze large datasets and tackle challenges associated with data processing.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Solid Python programming experience, with a strong desire to continue improving in Python.

  • Action-oriented and a self-starter who can independently complete tasks and integrate feedback.

  • Strong interest in code refactoring and optimization challenges.

  • Experience contributing to open-source projects, with a portfolio demonstrating your contributions.

  • Ability to articulate technical challenges and solutions clearly, even in ambiguous situations.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think abstractly.

  • Interest in networking, internet infrastructure, and network automation.

  • Eagerness to work with large data sets and solve data-related challenges.

Preferred Experience:

  • Familiarity with distributed, multi-tiered systems, relational databases, and algorithms.

  • Knowledge of GraphQL, MongoDB, or other modern web technologies.

  • Experience from a previous technical internship or related project work.

  • Proficiency with React.js or other front-end development technologies.

Estimated Pay Range :$23.00-$25.00 USD/hour
