Packaging Engineer

This position will entail working closely with suppliers to meet packaging requirements for safely shipping key automotive components such as fascia's, glass, powertrain parts, and trim panels.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Packaging Design & Supplier Collaboration: Work with suppliers to design and implement packaging solutions that ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective transportation of fascia's, glass, powertrain components, and trim panels
  • Non-Conformance Tracking: Monitor and track packaging non-conformances, including damage reports, and take corrective action to prevent future occurrences
  • Damage Reporting: Assist dealers with claims and provide support for submitting damage photos into our online portal for documentation and resolution
  • Process Improvement: Continuously assess and improve packaging processes to reduce damage, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure compliance with quality standards
  • Packaging Testing: Ensure all packaging meets industry standards and passes rigorous testing for durability and performance during transit
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with production, logistics, and supply chain teams to align packaging with manufacturing timelines, transportation schedules, and customer requirements
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Maintain effective relationships with packaging suppliers to ensure quality, timely delivery, and cost optimization of packaging materials
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of packaging designs, non-conformance reports, damage claims, and supplier communications. Provide regular reports to management regarding packaging performance and damage incidents
  • Dealer Support: Provide technical support to dealers regarding packaging issues and assist with troubleshooting and problem resolution related to component shipping

Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering OR 3 + years of experience in related work experience
  • Experience with packaging design and material selection for large, fragile automotive components, including fascias, glass, powertrain parts, and trim panels
  • Proven track record of working with suppliers to ensure packaging meets quality and safety requirements.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to track and manage multiple tasks and projects
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with internal teams, suppliers, and dealers
  • Familiarity with packaging-related software and documentation tools


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in Packaging Engineering or a related field
  • Experience working with automotive parts such as fascias, glass, powertrain components, and trim panels
  • Certification in Packaging Design or related industry standards (e.g., ISTA, ISO)
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement processes
  • Familiarity with packaging regulations and industry standards in the automotive sector
