Advancement Services Planning Analyst

Cornell University, a nationally ranked Ivy League institution, is looking for an Advancement Services Planning Analyst (Planning Analyst) to join the Advancement Services team in the Alumni Affairs & Development division.

Reporting to the Director of Advancement Services, the Planning Analyst will be responsible for developing ongoing, sustainable business solutions which meet the needs of Advancement Services. Partnering with AA&D Advancement Information Systems (AIS) and other internal and external partners, a critical focus of this role will be representing Advancement Services in the implementation of technology roadmap projects and system enhancements. We are looking for an individual who can gather information, document business requirements, and make recommendations to improve financial reporting, data integrity, and process flow.

Advancement Services is a high-volume unit responsible for all gift, pledge, and biographical entries for the Alumni Affairs & Development division and follows all CASE, IRS, and University guidelines for recording gift and pledge activity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison and point of contact for Advancement Services on technology implementations and system enhancements.
  • Continually evaluate Advancement Services business processes, seeking ways to leverage technology, reduce manual entry, and mitigate human errors.
  • Maintain the unit's project list and make recommendations for prioritization. Lead and coordinate special projects as identified and collaborate with team and key stakeholders.
  • Establish and monitor business process controls designed to safeguard the integrity of the data base and related systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 3 to 5 years relevant work experience or equivalent combination
  • Strong finance, accounting, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects with competing deadlines
  • High attention to detail and strong organization skills including ability to be diplomatic and sensitively collaborate across teams
  • Possess an in-depth knowledge of Advancement Services business processes and workflows and the software systems utilized including PeopleSoft Contributor Relations, GPS, Kuali Financials, and iModules.
  • Demonstrate good judgement, make independent decisions, and possess a growth mindset
  • Effectively communicate both verbally and in written form

This position is based in Ithaca, NY, and has hybrid work arrangements, which mean a minimum of two days in the office and the remainder remotely from a commutable distance.
