HDR's Northern California Civil Design Section is looking for a mid-level, Licensed Civil Engineer to support and lead exciting new work. The Civil Engineer in this role will receive hands-on support and professional development from experienced Senior Engineers by working on various engineering projects. Projects will range from earthen embankment levees and dams to wetland restoration and water conveyance. The Civil Engineer will be expected to develop plans, specifications, reports, cost estimates, and supporting calculations in development of quantities and bid schedules. Job duties and requirements include the following: Primary Responsibilities In the role of Civil Engineer, we'll count on you to:
- Lead or assist with preparation of construction documents.
- Work with junior, mid-level, and senior engineers of various disciplines to complete engineering assignments.
- Develop unique solutions to solve problems encountered during design.
- Develop and work within budget and schedule.
- Prepare plan drawings, technical specifications, design documentation reports, bid quantities, and construction cost estimates.
- Modify plan drawings and coordinate with AutoCAD Drafters and Civil3D Designers. May be required to prepare designs in AutoCAD and/or Civil3D.
- Mentor junior staff.
- Perform site visits to confirm field conditions.
- Perform engineering assignments that require critical thinking and creativity to address unique elements that have limited or no specific code-based guidance.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Field experience related to civil infrastructure construction
- Experience related to water resources projects

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent field
- Previous experience in water resources engineering projects
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
