Payroll Intern

Job Summary:

Hillpointe LLC is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Payroll Intern to join our Human Resources team. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in payroll processing, compliance, and HR support functions. The intern will primarily assist in payroll-related tasks, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in payroll operations while supporting benefits administration and general HR duties as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Support



  • Assist in processing payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.
  • Verify timesheets, reconcile payroll discrepancies, and maintain payroll records.
  • Help ensure proper tax withholding and deductions.
  • Assist in multi-EIN Payroll including bonuses and commissions.
  • Support in generating payroll reports and maintaining payroll databases.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters.
  • Assist in payroll audits and compliance checks.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with company payroll policies.


Benefits Administration



  • Assist with benefit enrollments, terminations, and updates in HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Provide administrative support for benefits-related tasks as needed.


HR Support



  • Assist in employee paperwork and entering employee data into HR systems.
  • Support HR projects related to employee engagement, performance, and compliance.


This is a non-exhaustive list; the Payroll Intern will also handle duties as assigned by their management chain.

Qualifications:



  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • College level understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Basic understanding of payroll concepts and employment regulations is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Previous internship or administrative experience in HR or Payroll is beneficial.
  • Entry level understanding of federal payroll laws.
