Job Description

The Conde Nast Global Consumer Revenue Creative team is responsible for the development of all multi-channel creative marketing assets for a subset of Conde Nast brands (Vogue, Vanity Fair, GQ, Allure, Bon Appetit, Epicurious, The New Yorker, Wired, Architectural Digest, Conde Nast Traveler, etc.). The Consumer Revenue Creative team generates revenue from consumers through subscriptions including print, digital, and membership offerings such as Vogue Club, and commerce & box continuity (subscription box & member store) businesses. We are looking for a hands-on, Senior Art Director to develop best-in-class creative to help drive the consumer business.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conceptualize, design, and develop captivating digital creative assets, including graphics, animations, videos, and other multimedia content for our owned and operated channels (website, email, and app), paid media, and new platforms.

  • Ensure that all visuals, messaging, and interactive elements are aligned with the creative vision and meet the brand standards of individual brands within our portfolio.

  • Drive strategic thinking and apply design principles to all aspects of creative development, delivering best-in-class designs that effectively drive consumer business growth.

  • Collaborate with the Creative Director and Project Management team to leverage data and analytics, gaining insights into creative performance, and providing recommendations for asset updates to optimize performance.

  • Partner with the Creative Director on the development and maintenance of a robust design system, and templates to ensure consistency, optimize creative development, and help scale creative output.

  • Maintain regular communication with the Project Management team and colleagues, providing updates on project timelines and progress.

  • Stay current with the competitive landscape, industry best practices, and emerging design and consumer revenue generation trends

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior design staff, helping to elevate their skills and foster a collaborative team environment

  • Manage and organize raw media and finished assets, ensuring proper storage and backup for easy accessibility and retrieval for internal and external partners

Required Experience/Skills

  • Proven experience as an art director/designer for 8-10 years: The ideal candidate should have a track record of working as an Art Director/Senior Art Director demonstrating their ability to create engaging and revenue-generating campaigns. Experience in a consumer-focused or revenue-driven environment is preferred (marketing, advertising, or e-commerce background)

  • Strong portfolio: The candidate should possess a strong portfolio that showcases their design skills and creativity. The portfolio should demonstrate a diverse range of creative projects, highlighting their ability to deliver high-quality designs and generate consumer engagement.

  • Solid understanding of design principles: The candidate should have a comprehensive understanding of design principles, including typography, color theory, and user experience (UX) design. This knowledge is crucial for creating visually appealing and user-friendly designs that align with brand standards.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills: Effective communication and collaboration are essential for working in cross-functional teams. The candidate should be able to communicate their ideas clearly, actively participate in discussions, and work collaboratively with colleagues and the Creative Director.

  • Detail-oriented mindset: The candidate should possess strong attention to detail, ensuring that all design elements, messaging, and interactive features are aligned with the creative vision and brand standards. This attention to detail is crucial for delivering high-quality and consistent designs.

  • Organizational and time management skills: The candidate should have exceptional organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously. They should be able to prioritize tasks effectively, meet deadlines, and provide regular updates on project timelines and progress.

  • Experience managing and mentoring a creative team.

  • Proactive and adaptable attitude: The candidate should stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies. They should be open to learning and implementing new design approaches, consistently delivering innovative and cutting-edge creative solutions.

  • Knowledge of ADA-compliant design is desired.

  • Adept at motion graphics and animation, understanding of good UX/UI design, basic HTML, and social media principals.

  • Proficiency in graphic design software and tools: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, After-effects), Sketch, Figma, working knowledge of G Suite, project management systems.

The expected base salary range for this position is from $128,000-$160,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.

In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates may also be eligible to receive discretionary bonus compensation.
