Job Summary
Fishbeck is seeking an experienced Certified Safety Professional (CSP) to lead our Industrial Hygiene and Safety Services team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven track record of driving a culture of industrial hygiene and workplace safety excellence and serving as a trusted consultant for our clients' complex industrial hygiene and occupational safety needs. This role involves performing technical activities, including all methods of air monitoring, work site assessments, employee education and training, guidance on worker occupational safety and health concerns, and abatement techniques for our mostly industrial and commercial clients.
Primary Functions


  • Lead and manage the Industrial Hygiene and Safety team.
  • Generate and/or follow-up on new leads.
  • Expand our presence of and help grow our business through leveraging existing relationships and cultivating new connections.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies, including HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study) and JSA (Job Safety Analysis).
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative risk assessments, including exposure assessments, toxicological evaluations, and to a lesser extent recognition of ergonomic concerns.
  • Provide expert advice and recommendations to clients on occupational health and safety, including state and federal regulatory compliance (OSHA, MIOSHA, EPA, EGLE, NFPA) and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926 standards as adopted by Michigan OSHA.
  • Conduct safety training and educational programs for clients, including confined space entry, lockout/tagout (LOTO), respiratory protection, personal protective equipment, hearing conservation, combustible dust prevention, hazard communication, etc.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents using root cause analysis (RCA) and develop corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes, including updates to ANSI, ASHRAE, and ACGIH guidelines.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on occupational safety and health audits, industrial hygiene monitoring results, and improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop customized safety solutions tailored to their specific needs, including engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment (PPE) recommendations.
  • Develop and assist clients in the implementation of required written compliance programs (Confined Space Entry, Control of Hazardous Energy, Hazard Communication/GHS, Hearing Conservation, Personal Protective Equipment (including annual certifications), etc.



Minimum Physical Requirements
Will have normal office working conditions and be required to use a computer. Project locations could include heightened noise level, air quality issues, working near moving parts and equipment, and occasional exposure to outside weather conditions. While performing duties of this job, the staff member is regularly required to sit, stand, reach, crouch, walk, climb, lift over 40 pounds, and use conventional sampling tools and equipment, while providing health and safety consulting services to a wide variety of clients. Job activities will require the use of respiratory and other personal protective equipment.
Desired Education/Licensure
Bachelor of Science in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or other similarly related program. Possess Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification or be able to obtain within one year. Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification, a plus.
Desired Skills/Experience


  • 10+ years of experience in the comprehensive practice of industrial hygiene and occupational safety.
  • Experience in the consulting industry a plus.
  • Development of proposals clearly outlining the scope of work and budget management.
  • Impactful presentation skills.
  • Excellent people leadership, management, and mentorship skills.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards (OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ANSI, ASHRAE, ACGIH).


  • Proven experience in developing and implementing safety programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct safety training and educational programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
