The Job/What You'll Do:

A detail-oriented and strategically minded payroll and accounts payable professional. The payroll and accounts payable manager will oversee all aspects of payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely payments of employees at our organization. Will be responsible for overseeing the accounts payable process and ensuring timely payments to vendors and suppliers. Is expected to maintain accurate financial records and reconcile accounts payable transactions. Will also be responsible for managing the payroll and accounts payable team and ensuring that all invoices are processed in a timely and efficient manner. Will also collaborate with various departments to gather and validate accounts payable and payroll information, resolve discrepancies, and provide exceptional service to our employees.

To be successful as a payroll and accounts payable manager, you should possess strong knowledge of payroll regulations, exceptional organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality. You should also have strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills and be able to present information and models in a concise and easily comprehensible manner.

Responsibilities:



  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing, including collecting, calculating, and inputting payroll data for all employees.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies while processing payroll and accounts payable.
  • Administer and maintain payroll systems, ensure data integrity, and implement system upgrades and enhancements.
  • Collaborate with HR, finance, and other departments to gather and validate payroll information, such as new hires, terminations, promotions, and salary changes.
  • Monitor and resolve payroll discrepancies, investigating and resolving issues promptly and accurately.
  • Generate payroll reports, including tax filings, benefits deductions, and other required reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Address employee inquiries and concerns related to payroll, providing exceptional customer service and support.
  • Maintain confidentiality and data security standards for all payroll-related information.
  • Stay updated on payroll regulations, multiple state tax laws and industry trends, implementing necessary changes to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Train and develop payroll and accounts payable staff, including setting performance goals and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Oversee the accounts payable department and ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and expense reports.
  • Develop and maintain payroll and accounts payable policies and procedures.
  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes for payroll and accounts payable.
  • Assist with audits and provide documentation and support as needed
  • Other duties as assigned



Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:



  • Experience in handling payroll audits, inspections, and compliance assessments.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and systems, such as Paycom, Paychex, and/or ADP, with experience implementing and managing payroll systems.
  • Excellent understanding of financial principles and the ability to reconcile payroll with financial records.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in managing complex payroll calculation data.
  • Good organizational and time management skills to meet strict payroll deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to act professionally and maintains appropriate boundaries with clients and staff.
  • Ability to report as scheduled to work, meetings, training, and job-related activities prepared and as scheduled.

Education & Experience:



  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, human resources, or a related field, Preferred
  • 5 years of experience in payroll management or a similar accounting role, required
  • 5+ years of experience in accounts payable or related field.

    1. Experience in non-profit financial planning, analysis, and modeling preferred




A comparable combination of education and/or applicable experience and/or training will be considered if a candidate does not meet the minimum requirements

Working Conditions:

While performing the job duties in the office or at a home office, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands; they must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
