The Opportunity

The Department of Applied Aviation Sciences invites candidates to apply for a Non-Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position to teach introductory and higher-level undergraduate courses ranging from space policy to general space operations and/or space cybersecurity in our B.S. Space Operations degree program. Depending on candidate skills, there may be additional opportunities to teach in our Master of Science in Space Operations.

The Applied Aviation Sciences Department offers four bachelor's degree programs, each unique: Aerospace and Occupational Safety, Air Traffic Management, Meteorology, and Space Operations. While each program is different from the others, all are excellent choices for students who want challenging and rewarding careers. The Bachelor of Science degree in Space Operations (BSSO) is a unique program focused on the operations, policy, business, safety, training, human factors, and mission planning elements of space operations. In addition, ERAU Daytona Beach offers an M.S. in Space Operations.

The position includes a mix of teaching and service obligations. Basic teaching requirements are twelve credit hours (four courses) per semester. Service duties include student mentoring, curriculum evaluation, committee participation, and project leadership.

The candidate is expected to develop new course materials as well as teach previously developed courses related to space operations and space policy & regulation. These courses provide students critical insight to the space operations as well as the regulatory requirements governing space flight to give our students a unique advantage in the space industry. Qualifications

Required Education and Qualifications:

PhD in space related field (desired) or M.S. in space related field with background in space industry (required).

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in higher education or other teaching experience.
