JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The College of Earth and Mineral Sciences (EMS) seeks an innovative, forward-thinking professional to join our inclusive and collegial team in the Ryan Family Student Center (RFSC), serving as the Administrative Support Manager (ASM). The RFSC is the home for undergraduate activities in the College-academic advising and tutoring, a computer lab and cafe, studying and collaborating-it's a busy and exciting place! The successful candidate will report to the Senior Associate Dean for undergraduate education and serve as the primary College contact for all University undergraduate academic administrative procedures and policy compliance. Responsibilities: Duties include but are not limited to the following:
The successful candidate will also work with the college Human Resources (HR) office to facilitate HR actions such as job vacancy postings, appointments, terminations, promotions, performance, and others; and will manage the personnel database and confidential personnel files. The ASM works independently on complex projects and must have outstanding communication skills, particularly in the areas of writing and speaking. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite is required. Familiarity with LionPATH (Penn State's student portal), SIMBA (financial system) and Adobe products is highly preferred. The position must work with unit budgets with knowledge of University electronic systems and policies, including fiscal year planning, salary distribution, funds disbursement, and approving unit expenditures. The ASM must possess knowledge of University student policies, and execute authority with confidentiality, sensitivity, and sound judgment in dealing with Senate petitions and Academic Integrity issues. As Commencement Director, the individual in this role will have the following responsibilities:
Education and Experience: This position requires an Associate's Degree or higher and 8+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and leadership ability are fundamental to success in this position. The employee will communicate and collaborate with multiple university offices as well as the five EMS departments, serve on university committees as appropriate, and represent the values of Penn State and EMS in all that they do.
