Location

Due to the responsibilities of this position, this role requires 100% onsite presence on Georgia Tech's Atlanta campus.

Department Information

The Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience (IBB, https://research.gatech.edu/bio) is located in Georgia Tech's thriving Biotechnology Complex was launched in 1995. IBB serves to catalyze new research and education initiatives at the interface of bioengineering and bioscience and integrate the broad range of bio-related activities throughout Georgia Tech and its partner institutions.

This position is the Facilities Mgr I for the Petit Biotechnology Building.

Job Summary

Facilitate and coordinate building operations within an assigned facility. Includes coordination of building maintenance and repairs, office moves, delivery and installation of furniture and equipment., building access control and deliveries. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: building occupants and visitors, department heads, contractors and vendors. This position typically will advise and counsel: contractors, vendors and visitors. This position will supervise: NA.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Manage building maintenance functions (both routine and emergency); ensure activities are carried out in a complete and timely manner.

Job Duty 2 -
Arrange for office moves within facility; ensure they are carried out as scheduled

Job Duty 3 -
Coordinate delivery and installation of building equipment

Job Duty 4 -
Maintain building access control system including card entry and office key management

Job Duty 5 -
Facilitate arrangements of special events scheduled for facility

Job Duty 6 -
Order building repair services as needed

Job Duty 7 -
Coordinate outside vendor/contractor services

Job Duty 8 -
Coordinate annual equipment inventory and maintain related records

Job Duty 9 -
Manage and update emergency preparedness plan for facility(facilities) and all related documents and procedures

Job Duty 10 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Responsibilities

In addition to other responsibilities noted in this job description, this position will:

  • Lead weekly/monthly furniture setups and resets for IBB events.
  • Manage student employees.
  • Assist with building recycling and composting efforts.
Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
High school diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma

Other Required Qualifications
Valid Georgia Driver's License Work involves adherence to applicable safety precautions. Typically requires lifting objects up to 25 pounds and standing for extended periods of time.

Required Experience
Three to five years job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with managing facilities with research laboratories and event/meeting spaces.
  • Experience with managing inventory (for example, equipment and liquid nitrogen tanks).
  • Strong customer service, project management, communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Detailed oriented.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365.

  • The proposed salary range for this position is between $49,464 - $63,000. Salary will commensurate with experience and education.
  • The salary grade for this position is C8.
  • Work may occur during the evening/weekends depending on IBB events, building maintenance, etc.
  • Requires lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Pre-employment process may include skills assessments and testing.
