Overview

Rapiscan Systems, an OSI Systems Company, is seeking a Director, Business Development to work out of our Crystal City, VA office.

Position will involve developing and managing existing and new business opportunities within the US Government and North America (NA)- with a focus on development in the radiation detection space. This position reports to the Executive Vice President, America Sales. The Director, Business Development, is expected to bring a fresh perspective blending sales and operational knowledge. Position must have a true collaborative approach to problem-solving, be team oriented, and have a hands-on approach to managing the function.


Responsibilities

  • Primary focus on federal business development and supporting commercial sales opportunities, primarily focused on radiation detection technologies.
  • Increasing U.S. federal radiation detection business (specifically DHS agencies) and supporting commercial sales opportunities.
  • Retaining and expanding the DOE's Nuclear Smuggling, Detection and Deterrence (NSDD) business base through product line service life extensions and new product offerings.
  • Assists the EVP in developing partnerships and acquisition opportunities that meet our growth strategy objectives.
  • Conducts market research and valuation analysis to support transaction rationale and risk. Screen, analyze and develop a strong business case for growth, including quantitative support for annual operating plan and investment activities.
  • Provide support to other sales staff managing opportunities through Foreign Military Sale (FMS) or Foreign Military Funding (FMF).
  • Increase cross-sell opportunities for existing and new clients - describing and providing information on other product lines as requirements develop.
  • Assist the EVP. America Sales in developing and tracking sales forecasts.
  • Manage Rapiscan's radiation detection customer base relationships and assist in translating customer expectations and growth in business opportunities.
  • Work with the operations, engineering, and program management teams to provide timely responses, including budgetary pricing, technical information, and responses to issues for clients, as they arise.
  • Assist in proposal writing and development - developing win themes and pricing strategies for bids and proposals, pre-solicitations, and white papers.
  • Proficiency with, and assist managing, group Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system(s) - become familiar with, and use of, the current CRM tool to assist management with forecasting exercises.
  • Act as primary point of contact for NA radiation detection sales opportunities and integrate them into CRM.
  • Ensures timely completion of work by overseeing priorities and schedules.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, engineering, science or similar function
  • A minimum of 15 years' experience in the security industry, working with large multi-disciplinary initiatives; specifically, business development.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with other strong personalities.
  • Possess at least 5 years of government experience is highly desired and have a working knowledge of contracting processes and procedures.
  • Prior experience with radiation detection sales to US Government with direct sales to DHS/CWMD and Department of Energy, as highly desired.
  • Experience with sales/business development processes and CRM and capability to train other sales staff in use.
  • Knowledge of the radiation detection market.
  • Previous experience conducting and presenting analysis for sales strategy, and capture plans.
  • Success as a change agent.
  • Record of driving and achieving bold goals and establishing and executing to best-in-class metrics.
  • Active secret clearance a plus.
  • This position requires up to 50% travel.
