This is an exciting opportunity that will be primarily focused on managing the General Ledger Reporting Process for US Legal Entities comprising the US Commercial Risk businesses. This includes administering the monthly close processes, submitting schedules to Corporate Consolidations, performing Balance Sheet Reconciliation / Variance Analysis, SOX Compliance, and Working Capital schedules.

The role will be required to work closely with Finance and off-shore accounting centers to collaborate on financial reporting, analysis and finance initiatives that support Aon strategic objectives.

What the day will look like

  • Perform monthly analysis of contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition treatment and present findings to the US Controllership Managers, Commercial Risk Controller and NA Controller.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries in supporting proper timing of revenue recognition.
  • Liaison to the US FP&A teams for Multi-Year Deferral Application assistance and revenue balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist in the monthly preparation of the revenue fee model forecasting.
  • Assist with preparation of monthly balance sheet variance analysis and working capital forecast.
  • Perform the quarterly analysis and testing of the revenue fee model for proper revenue recognition.
  • Assist with SOX walk-throughs and internal control procedures and testing.
  • Assist with responding to audit requests from external auditors
  • Cultivate strong working relationship with other US controllership teams, US FP&A teams and Operational teams.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, including identifying efficiencies

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting and reporting functions
  • Knowledge of US GAAP accounting standards
  • Experience working with PeopleSoft, HFM, principles of Fiduciary Accounting, Equity and Consolidations accounting preferable
  • Ability to influence colleagues at different levels essential, and to build strong collaborative on-going working relationships with colleagues of different levels
  • CPA Preferred
  • Self-starter with a disciplined and organized approach to work
  • The ability to balance priorities and workload to manage multiple projects
  • Ability to demonstrate good verbal, organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong IT skills, including advanced Excel
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Responsible for working in accordance with the Aon PLC's Risk Management Framework, and compliance with the Aon PLC's policies, including participation in the management of risks (including completion of mandatory training) that may adversely affect the business, interests or reputation of any Group Company.

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $78,000 - $92,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

The salary range reflected is based on a primary work location of Chicago, Illinois The actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
