What You'll Do

  • Performs receipt inspection of procured items to ensure the items meet defined specifications and requirements.
  • Determines or assists in determining methods, procedures, and Measuring and Test Equipment (M&TE) necessary for performing inspections.
  • Assists technical staff with development of inspection and test criteria.
  • Reviews engineering procurement documents to ensure that applicable quality inspection and acceptance activities have been incorporated and can be performed as specified.
  • Performs receipt inspection activities in accordance with specifications, procedures, and standards.
  • Documents inspection results on receipt inspection checklist and compiles a receipt inspection package for entry into approved records repository system.
  • Maintains inspection records, vendor data submittals, and test reports in accordance with record requirements.
  • Initiates non-conformance reports when non-conformances are identified during inspection activities.
  • Assists with resolution, review, and approval of non-conformances.
  • Handles, stores, and maintains M&TE in accordance with standards and requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining a thorough and advanced knowledge of applicable procedures, quality requirements, regulations, standards, and DOE orders.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert regarding receipt inspection requirements, procedures, policies, and objectives.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and organized receipt inspection work area.
  • Collaborates with CNS personnel across the site to resolve issues or questions associated with specified receipt inspection requirements or items received.
  • Enters and maintains receipt inspection data in Excel spreadsheet for producing metrics and tracking status of items in receipt inspection.
  • Demonstrates initiative and performs duties with minimal supervision.
  • Exercises independent, unbiased judgment regarding final QA acceptance of procured items and services. Recognizes that the impact of errors in judgment could affect the success or failure of major projects and/or important organizational functions.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree: Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.Typical experience ranging from 7 to 10 years.
  • ORMaster's degree: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.Typical experience ranging from 7 to 10 years.
  • OR 12or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting.
  • In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2 (1 year job-related experience, or a DOE O 426.2 alternative). DOE 426.2 experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities.

Preferred Job Requirements

  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in quality assurance and have an in-depth knowledge of receipt inspection.
  • Familiar with proper use, care, and handling of M&TE.
  • Demonstrated skill in reviewing procurement documents, and reading and interpreting engineering drawings, procedures, codes and standards.
  • Familiar with commercial grade dedication and suspect/counterfeit program elements.
  • Working knowledge of quality assurance standards, such as ASME NQA-1 and DOE Order 414.Id.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision ensuring that inspections, tests, and acceptance activities are conducted in accordance with requirements.
  • Able to operate with initiative and has ability to follow through with a plan or task.
  • Ability to make independent, un-biased judgements regarding final QA acceptance of items and services recognizing that the impact of errors in judgement could affect the success or failure of major projects and/or important organizational functions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to others, build rapport and establish positive working relationships.
  • Ability to present information clearly and effectively through the oral and written word.
  • Proficient in the use of appropriate computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
