The Director of Business Operations advises the Executive Director of Perioperative Services on strategic planning and provides administrative leadership and direction within Perioperative services to ensure achievement of the division's strategic and operational plans. The director develops, monitors an executes long and short term perioperative strategic plans, financial budgets, operational efficiencies, key performance indicators, and surgical allocation (block) management for Perioperative Services. The director acts as a liaison between UCDH leadership, the School of Medicine and Perioperative leadership. The director maintains a culture of open and timely communication within a safe and supportive environment. MGR234
This position implements and maintains the financial and business goals and objectives which assure fiscally visible and optimal service delivery of all areas of Perioperative Services, including the Operating Room locations, Pre & Post-operative areas, Sterile Processing areas, the Pre-Anesthesia Clinic, and Endoscopy. The position supports Perioperative work associated with Non OR Anesthesia locations (NORA).
Areas of direct management responsibility include Perioperative Business Operations, Surgical & Procedural Scheduling, CQI & Data Analytics, Payroll, Leaves and Staff Scheduling. This includes oversight of billing, charges, reimbursement analysis, close collaboration with UCD Financial departments on budget preparation and analysis, new program development, and surgical materials management. The director ensures Perioperative Services operates within established policies, procedures and in compliance with local, state and federal regulations and guidelines.
The Director of Business Operations plans, implements and directs ongoing activities within the areas of responsibilities that optimizes fiscal prudence and budgetary compliance. The position works closely with the Executive Director and the Perioperative Executive Committee to develop strategic business and operational objectives, that support effective operational efficiency and productivity, with timely delivery of information.
Other responsibilities include effectively managing financial and capital resources, inventory, equipment maintenance and supply acquisition, analysis of income and expense reports as well as coordinating related process improvement initiatives to improve efficiencies and achieve financial objectives.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Bachelor's degree in a related disciplinary field such as Health Administration, Business Administration or Nursing, or equivalent experience/training.
- Must be enrolled in a Master's program upon hire with completion of Master's degree within 2 years of hire.
- Three years of recent management experience or equivalent responsible leadership experience.
- Must possess operational and regulatory healthcare administration experience.
- Must have demonstrated skills necessary to be responsible for the identification, monitoring and maintenance od the Perioperative Division's financial, human, technical and facility processes.
- Must possess management, operational and regulatory healthcare administration knowledge.
- Ability to learn UCDH operations to be an effective resource for Perioperative managers, providers and staff.
- Ability to develop and lead a successful team to oversee day to day operations.
- Ability to establish clear and effective objectives and develop realistic long and short-range plans.
- Ability to track data, information, schedules and systems in an organized fashion, and exercise reason and use sound judgement for informed decision-making.
- Self-starter - uses initiative, vision and creativity to take on new tasks and generate innovative ideas.
- Collaborates well with other to meet strategic objectives.
- Possesses negotiation and persuasion skills to build consensus and create collaborative relationships with representatives from diverse departments.
- Possesses strong communication skills to effectively convey information, concepts, instructions and ideas in oral and written formats to a wide variety of audiences with diverse backgrounds, agendas and levels of knowledge and expertise.

Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in related fields.
- Advanced Lean Six Sigma certification.
- Master's degree in related field such as Health Administration, Business Administration, or Nursing with a business focus.
- Graduation from a Master's bridge program from an Associate's degree (or equivalent) to a Master's degree is acceptable.
- Five or more years of recent / progressive management experience in Perioperative Services, or equivalent similar experience.
- Advanced experience with Lean Six Sigma and project management.

Department Overview
UCDH Perioperative Services is comprised of 3 hospital based Operating Room sites with supporting Pre & Post-op areas, Endoscopy and Sterile Processing, plus a Same Day Surgery location and a Pre-Anesthesia Clinic. We are opening a large Outpatient Surgery Complex in the coming months with 14 ORs, 2 Procedure Rooms, Pre & Post-op areas with an Extended Recovery Unit and a Sterile Processing Unit. Under construction are 12 hybrid rooms in the new patient tower.
