About the Role The Equipment Control and M&R Manager role is tasked with overseeing the management and administrative functions related to Equipment Control and Maintenance and Repair (M&R) services across the Southern California region. It involves direct supervision of the clerical staff within Matson's Office Clerical Unit in the Equipment Control department and has a shared responsibility to address any grievances arising from the collective bargaining agreement of the Office Clerical Unit, as well as overseeing the hiring process and administering disciplinary actions as required. The primary focus of this position is to manage Matson's equipment within the Southern California area, encompassing both inventory oversight and repair operations. The Manager will collaborate with the Matson Corporate Equipment Control team to facilitate the movement of equipment between trade lanes and terminals in Southern California. Additionally, the incumbent will work closely with personnel at SSAT LB to ensure that maintenance activities are conducted effectively for Matson's equipment. The incumbent holds the responsibility for managing equipment throughout the Southern California region and will coordinate efforts with the Matson Corporate Equipment Control and M&R teams to guarantee optimal equipment utilization. In this capacity, the incumbent will perform supervisory functions, including workflow coordination, monitoring employee conduct, attendance, punctuality, and the quality and quantity of work, ensuring adherence to departmental standards. To excel in this role, the incumbent must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. They should possess the capability to assess operational information needs and propose improvements, maintain positive relationships with staff at all organizational levels, and operate independently with minimal guidance. Moreover, the incumbent must be adept at organizing and managing multiple priorities, with strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills. What you'll do:

The annual salary range is posted for this position in California is $100,800 - $137,100. The salary offered will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
