Stellar Solutions is searching for a System Engineer to support the development of an operations facility that integrates space and ground elements to prototype new satellite and tactical mission capabilities, demonstrating their scalability and operational utility. The candidate will play a critical role in the development of the requirements baseline and support the interface definition and control activities. The candidate will be a key contributor to the system engineering team, ensuring that the operations facility meets the needs of the warfighter while delivering a system on schedule and within cost.



Role/Responsibilities/Qualifications

The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication skills and has developed technical experience in the design, development, and integration of ground systems that provide communications, data management, and operations infrastructure needed to support the mission operations of a space constellation. A successful candidate has demonstrated the ability to formulate solutions to complex engineering challenges. The candidate is self-directed and will initiate/facilitate collaborative discussions with teammates and customers. The candidate thrives in a fast-paced, agile development environment, applying advanced principles, theories, and concepts for commercial and classified systems, while also helping define system engineering processes that ensure successful execution of the program and delivery of the system that achieves the mission requirements.

In this role, the successful candidate will:

    Support the requirements management activities by helping to perform requirements analysis, decomposition and allocation from the system down to the subsystems and components.
  • Support the development of the architecture descriptions, models, and other architecture products in an agile development environment.
  • Support the development of the interfaces, both internal and external to the system including especially the Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for hardware, software, network and cloud interfaces with customer and contractor users of the infrastructure.
  • Communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy-oral and written.
  • Support a customer committed to the rapid development of mission capabilities that meet the evolving needs of the warfighter.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to surge work hours in support of specific milestones, while contributing to a culture that values a healthy work-life balance.

Required skills:

  • Minimum BS Degree with seven (7) years of experience, at least 3 years of which is on space or ground system development programs.
  • System engineering experience in the development of ground architectures and cloud environments, including an understanding of design for test and ops.
  • Understanding of operational environments and corresponding mission user needs.
  • Ability to develop and recommend solutions for problems/issues.

Desired skills:

  • Experience in secure cloud environment systems.
  • Experience with automated management of ground resources.
  • Experience with the operations of ground systems in the support of satellite operations.

Education

  • Relevant BS in Engineering or related STEM degree (MS preferred).

Clearance:

  • Active TOP SECRET clearance with sensitive compartmentalized information (SCI) eligibility.
  • Candidate must maintain a TS/SCI clearance as a condition of employment.

Location

The primary work location is Chantilly, VA. Colorado Springs, CO may be a potential alternative location. The position is full-time and will require travel up to 10% of time within the continental United States.
Compensation:

The typical salary pay range for this position is USD $125,000 - $150,000 per year. Individual pay is determined by many factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual performance bonus, and a full benefits package including a significant, company funded profit-sharing retirement savings plan.



Deliverable(s)

Deliverables will be in the format of reports, briefings, spreadsheets, or other documents as directed by the Government, using contractor and/or government approved and/or mandated systems/software and processes governed by guidance/instructions/policy or direction. The nature of this work will, at times, require a quick response to stringent deadlines and always in a high quality, professional manner.
